Flower Patch and A Dozen Thoughts

I have found that whether or not (or how much) I like a stamp set is directly related to the availability of a coordinating framelit set.  The Flower Patch stamp set has framelits to cut out all those flower shapes, therefore, I like Flower Patch.

Speaking of framelits.  I learned a couple of valuable lessons from this card.  It was offered at one of my Card Buffets.  The last buffet was on a Friday evening.  I was wrapping up my leftovers Sunday afternoon. Sometimes I put off making my leftovers for a few weeks and sometimes I just unassemble the kits and don't make them.  But, like I said, I was making these the same weekend.  When I went to cut one of the yellow flowers, its corresponding framelit was missing.  I keep them on a magnetic sheet on my Big Shot counter.  Not there.  I looked through the trash and my whole stamp room and couldn't find it. I bugged the last two people that made the card.  It hadn't jumped into their tote bags.  That evening, my hubby took his metal detector to the craft room trash bag and found it.  My hero!!  The last lady that used it at my Card Buffet tossed and her scraps into the trash bucket that sits on the Big Shot counter.  Later, I dumped that can into the trash bag.

Lesson #1:  Deal with my leftovers and put all supplies away right away.  Did I mention that Sunday is trash night?  If I hadn't made my leftovers that day, I wouldn't have known the framelit was missing and it would have gone to the dump.  Also, since little time had passed, I could remember who made the card in case something accidentally went home with them.

Lesson #2:  Carefully go through the trash bins from Card Buffets before dumping them.  Accidents happen!

My hubby often saves the day for me (and I  let him know it daily), so I really can't say that was a lesson to me - but maybe it is for someone else.  Hug your hero!

Pistachio Pudding and Starburst Sayings

A couple of weeks ago, I shared that I needed a lot of encouragement cards.  I used up my stash and needed more.  I made several of this card.  I thought the greeting, "You make the world a better place" was very encouraging.

I used designer paper and baker's twine that I had leftover from Sale-a-Bration.

Marina Mist Flower Shop

A couple of months ago, I had two ladies signed up to attend their first Card Buffet.  Actually, it would be there first time for stamping or any paper crafting.  I invited them to come over the week ahead for a beginner lesson.  This is the card that I prepared for them.  I know it is NOT a beginner card, but it demonstrated many techniques that they would encounter on different cards on the Card Buffet Menu; background stamp, stamping/punching, dry embossing, framelits.  If I had it to do over again, I would keep it simple.

Card Stock:  crumb cake, marina mist, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  marina mist, crumb cake

Mixed Bunch - Double Time Stamping

I call this the technique on this card Double Time Stamping; little sister to triple time stamping that was all over blogland a couple of years ago.  I've made a few of them at Card Buffets.  Here is one example.

To get the image to meet up on both pieces of Whisper White Card card stock, I put a tiny piece of snail adhesive on the back of the smaller piece and placed it on the bigger piece.  Stamp.  There was  a small blank area all around the smaller piece where the ink didn't get on the bigger piece.  That's ok because the Night of Navy mat covered that up.

I used the same technique on the inside of the card:

Age Awareness Birthday Card

This is my first photopolymer stamp set.  I love it!  I can't believe how well the stamps stick to the acrylic blocks!  And it's so nice to see exactly where I'll be stamping.  The "happy" and "birthday" are individual stamps, but I was able to place them on the same block and stamp at once.  No problems with laligning or spacing!

The ink does stain the stamps, though.  :0(

I looove the new Large Polka Dot embossing folder, too!  The size difference between framelits is often larger than I want for a mat.  So I cut the white card stock (after stamping, of course) with a labels collection framelit.  I adhered it to a rectangular piece of real red card stock and hand cut the red around the white.

Stamp Set:  Age Awareness
Card Stock:  lost lagoon, real red, whisper white, hello honey
Stamp Pad:  real red

Project Life: Road Trip to Washington, DC

This is the second layout I did with Project Life.  It's so fun and easy, plus I actually have photos documented and in a place my family can enjoy (other than just my phone).  I can't wait to add Project Life to my regular crafting routine.

My cousin's daughter got married last year in Annapolis, MD.  It just so happens that our son lives in Silver Spring, MD and works in Washington, DC.   Perfect reasons for a road trip.  So Jeff and I loaded up my parents and our granddaughter and headed east for a long holiday weekend (Memorial Day).  While there, we went on a open top bus tour.

Thoughts of You ... Rain or Shine

I love this stamp set (and this card).  For some reason, I had been wanting a stamp set with an umbrella.  When Stampin' Up! offered Rain or Shine in the Occasions Catalog last year, I didn't even have to think about whether I would order it.  And when I last purged retired stamp sets, it stayed.

And I love the simplicity and cuteness of this card.  I offered it at my June and July Card Buffets and I've already used up the leftover kits and my samples.
