Baby Shower: Patterned Occasions Card and a Quilt

A couple of weeks ago, I got to help plan a baby shower at church for our Pastor's wife and their new baby boy.  When I found out that their nursery is decorated in a theme, I knew exactly what stamp set and fabric I wanted to use.  They both go each other and with the nursery.  Win!

Here's the card:

I used the Patterned Occasions stamp set which was available during Sale-a-Bration this year.  I inked the elephant once with markers, then again with the midnight muse stamp pad - just enough to stamp the ear on scrap card stock.  I cut that out and used a teeny piece of dimensional to pop it up.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Sets:  Patterned Occasions, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock:  midnight muse, baja breeze (retired), whisper white, subtles and 2012-2014 in color dsp stacks
Stamp Pads:  midnight muse and baja breeze, midnight muse & gumball green markers
Other:  perfect polka dots embossing folder, big shot, 2-1/2" circle punch, midnight muse stitched satin ribbon, whisper white linen thread, dimensionals, pearls.

And here's the quilt:

The fabric is Bungle Jungle by Tim and Beck for Moda Fabrics.  I used charm packs and yardage.  It's 1/2 price right now at the Fat Quarter Shop, but there isn't too much left.
I used Sweet Jane's Simple Stitches pattern.

Summer Silhouettes

This stamp set was probably the first one to catch my eye from last year's catalog.  I've used it several times and still love it.  I think I've always used the same flower image, though.  Maybe I should branch out ...

I pinned this card from Splitcoast.  Obviously, I liked it or I wouldn't have pinned it.  But when I made one, it wasn't as pretty in real life.  It was missing something.  So I added the thin black mat behind the main panel and it became one of my all time favorite card buffet card.  I'm so glad I didn't give up on it.

CASEd from here.
Stamp Sets:  Summer Silhouettes, Blooming with Kindness
Card Stock:  whisper white, basic black, floral distric dsp (retired)

Fourth of July Flags

This card could be a Fourth of July card, but doesn't have to be.  It's also a nice masculine card.  I thought one of the banner stamps from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set was a good choice for the inside.

Stamp Sets:  Fabulous Phrases, Hearts a Flutter
Card Stock:  crumb cake, cherry cobbler, night of navy, very vanilla
Stamp Pad:  night of navy
Other:  crumb cake 3/8" taffeta ribbon, glue dot, rhinestones, square lattice emobossing folder, big shot.

Hello Kitty Punch Art Card

I made this card for my Card Buffets.  Many of us are grandmas and I think it's a cute card for little girls.  Plus I think Hello Kitty is (still) pretty popular.  Well, everyone LOVED this card.  I'm kind of thinking lots were made just so they could keep it for themselves.

We used a marker to ink up just the "hello" from the "hello baby" stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, Full of Life, Party this Way
Card Stock:  regal rose, whisper white, basic black, daffodil delight
Stamp Pads:  black stazon, regal rose, and basic black marker.

Simple Doily & Butterfly Card

This card is so simple, yet I just love it!  I'm happy that Pool Party and the doilies are still in the catalog.

The original card had real stitching across the top (with sewing machine and thread).  Since I used this card on a Card Buffet that wasn't an option.  So I switched to "faux stitching"; pierce holes and connect the dots with a white gel pen.  I used one of the stamps from Delicate Doilies to embellish the inside and envelope.

I CASEd my card from here and she CASEd hers from the last Spring Catalog :0)

Stamp Sets:  Delicate Doilies, Itty Bitty Banners
Card Stock:  pool party, whisper white, brights designer stack (real red) and subtles designer stack (pool party)
Stamp Pad:  pool party
Other:  paper doily, bitty banners framelit, big shot, dimensional, bitty butterfly punch, basic pearl, paper piercing piercer, template & mat, white gel pen.

Another Lattice Die Wedding Card

This is the final wedding card for this summer (I think).  I shared the shower card here and said that I thought the wedding color was purple.  I was right.  The dresses and flowers were dark purple with lavender accents.  Concord Crush and Wisteria Wonder were perfect matches.  My hunches are not always correct so I'm especially happy when they are!

The card measures 5-1/4" x 5-1/4".  I'm almost out of the retired square envelopes.

CASEd from this card.

Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock:  whisper white, concord crush, wisteria wonder, lucky limeade
Stamp Pad:  concord cruch
Other:  lattice die, floral fusion sizzlet, little leaves sizzlet, big shot, basic pearls, dimensionals.

Perfect Plum Field Flowers

This card was on my April/May card buffet.  I stamped my samples for Mother's Day, but offered a variety of sentiment stamps to use.  There are some that always need a lot of birthday cards.  With the subdued color combination, I think it makes a nice sympathy or thinking of you card.

I used very vanilla and crumb cake quite a bit, but I don't use perfect plum or always artichoke very often.  It's nice to work with some different colors every once in a while.

CASEd from this card.

Stamp Sets:  Hello Doily, Field Flowers, Delightful Dozen
Card Stock:  very vanilla, always artichoke
Stamp Pads:  crumb cake, perfect plum, always artichoke
Other:  crumb cake 1/2" seam binding ribbon.

Sycamore Street Scraps Congratulations

I offered this card at my Card Buffet this spring as a possible graduation card.  I know I've shared before that I like to make mine in school colors, but that's hard to do for workshops.  But this card was cheerful; in fact, some used it for a birthday card.

I just love this Sycamore Street designer paper from SAB.  I'm so glad I was able to stock up.  The ribbon and buttons are also from SAB.

CASEd from this card.

Stamp Set:  Curly Cute
Card Stock:  pacific point, whisper white, rich razzleberry (sliver to "thread" button), sycamore street dsp.
Stamp Pad:  pacific point
Other:  sycamore street ribbon & button, glue dot.

Flowering Flourishes Butterfly

This looks like a simple card and it is simple to stamp.  But there are a lot of layers to cut - especially when it's very popular at a card buffet.  Haha!  That's ok - I like it when people are happy with their card choices.

For the stamped background, I stamped the flourishes on the vanilla card stock first, then embossed that piece with the square lattice embossing folder.  After that, I very lightly sponged over the surface and edges with a sponge and crumb cake ink.

CASEd from this card using Fresh Vintage and Rose Red.

Stamp Set:  Flowering Flourishes
Card Stock:  calypso coral, very vanilla
Stamp Pads:  calypso coral, crumb cake
Other:  square lattice embossing folder, beautiful wings bigz die, big shot, stampin' sponge, dimensionals, basic pearls.

Mosaic Madness Make-n-Take Card

Last night was my new catalog revel Open House (aka HUGE retired product sale).

This is the card featuring lots of new products that my guests got to make and take.  One of the reasons the new Mosaic Madness stamp set has been so popular on blogs, etc., is it's one of the sets that demonstrators were permitted to pre-order.  It's pretty cool that there's a stamp set, punch and embossing folder that all coordinate..

CASEd from Mindy Backe's card.

Stamp Sets:  Mosaic Madness, Express Yourself (hostess)
Card Stock:  strawberry slush, coastal cabana, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  coastal cabana, strawberry slush, baked sugar
Other:  modern mosaic embossing folder, big shot, mosaic punch, dimensionals, rhinestone.

Blue Ribbon Graduates

These are the graduation cards I made this year.  When I have the time (and the gumption), I try to make them in the school colors.  We've had so many bridal showers, weddings, graduations and babies in such a short time, I took the easy way out and made all of the graduation cards the same design.

CASEd from this card.

Stamp Sets:  Blue Ribbon, Pursuit of Happiness, Pure Gumption
Card Stock:  real red/pacific point/concord crush, basic black, whisper white, first edition specialty
Markers and Stamp Pads:  concord crush, basic black, real red, pacific point
Other:  chevron & honeycomb embossing folders, big shot, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1-3/4" scallop circle punch, linen thread, dimensionals.

Scentsational Season - Christmas in June

Friday is my new catalog/retired sale and I am cleaning out stamps, die, punches, card stock and all things paper crafty today.  I have about 90 stamp sets that I would like to sell plus LOTS of other goodies.  Cleaning out always makes such a mess in the beginning.  It will be worth it next week.  I hope.

I just saw the equipment pull up to tear out part of our concrete driveway and a few sections of sidewalk.  I'm guessing the noise will send me back down stairs to my stamp area.

Anyway, this is one of my first Christmas cards for 2013.  It's actually the first design I've made so far this year.  I'm behind from 2012 but way ahead of 2011.  I cut the candy cane shape with the framelit (from last year's holiday catalog).  Then I used my white gel pen to hand doodle around the edges.  I flipped the cut panel over and ran my adhesive all around the edges, then cut ribbon to go across the candy cane.  Simple and very cute!  I had 6 of these buttons, so I made 6 cards.

CASEd from this great card.

Stamp Sets:  Scentsational Season, More Merry Messages
Card Stock:  crumb cake, real red, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  early espresso, real red
Other:  holiday framelits, little leaves sizzlet, big shot, brights buttons, glue dot, dimensionals, white gel pen, cherry cobbler baker's twine.

Love & Laughter Wedding Shower Card

I made this card for a wedding shower I was invited to a few weeks ago.  I think the wedding colors are purple and white so I pulled out my retired Concord Crush card stock and stamp pad.

I hadn't used heat & stick powder for quite awhile.  It makes a pretty neat effect, but it's a little messy.  Maybe it's just me. You pour heat & stick powder over the wet ink and heat it with the heat gun until it is tacky (heat too long and it will dry).  While it is still tacky, pour glitter over it (I used dazzling diamonds).  Heat again to set it.  It doesn't show in the pictures, but the dress is sparkly.

Another technique that I rarely use is to ink my image with the versamark pad first, then ink it on the colored stamp pad (basic gray in this case) before stamping.  That's combining the desired color with the wetter ink which enables the powder to stick.  I wanted to make a second card for my display tree.  I was careful to thoroughly clean the ink out of my stamp before putting it back on the versamark pad.

Stamp Set:  Love & Laughter
Card Stock:  whisper white, concord crush, twitterpated dsp
Stamp Pads:  versamark, basic gray, concord crush

Black & White Wedding Times Two

We were invited to two weddings last weekend.  Unfortunately we were only able to attend one (out of town). I wasn't too sure of the colors for either, so I thought black and white would be OK.  I made the same card for both weddings.

To make the lattice pop up, I cut little pieces of the edge of the dimensionals sheet and stuck them on the intersections.  I knew the punched flowers would hid them, if they hung over.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Set:  Well Scripted (retired long ago)
Card Stock:  whisper white, basic black, night and day dsp (also retired - I bought mine from the clearance rack).
Stamp Pad:  black stazon
Other:  lattice die, three flower punch (retired), pearls, dimensionals, tombow glue.
