Up, Up and Away

Boy - what a crazy weather week it has been.  Two days over 100 degrees.  Thunderstorms and extremely high winds rolled in last night and this morning.  Branches and trees were downed and many are still without power today.  And of course, during the worst time, my dad was driving my mom home from having surgery (the hospital is 90 miles from home) and Jeff got called into work.  When it rains, it pours - or something like that.

This card makes me think of perfect weather days.  I just love Pool Party for a sky color and white fluffy clouds are so pretty.

Thanks with New Stamps and New Colors

I used a new stamp set, Betsy's Blossoms, and a couple of new In-Colors, Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green, to whip up some thank you notes to include with orders.  I actually did most of the work on these during my last card buffet.  It was fun to sneak in some of my own stamping during the workshops.  They were simple enough that I wasn't to engrossed to be able to meet the needs of my guests.  Win win!

I think the cards are bright and cheery (like our weather) and hope they will be enjoyed.

Cheery Scallop Punched Flower

This was a buffet card in May and June.  I had a few packets left over so I made them up, but left them blank.  One is sitting on my desk now and it is just so cheerful.

I morphed several ideas together to come up with this card.  The flowers are simple to make.  I punched a 1-3/4" and a 2-3/8" scalloped circle from Melon Mambo card stock.  In the dip of each scallop, I snipped in towards the center, then layered the two scallops.  The white center covers the ends of the snips and is raised on a dimensional.

Stamp Set:  Perfectly Penned
Card Stock:  whisper white, so saffron, pumpin pie, melon mambo, certainly celery
Stamp Pad:  melon mambo
Other:  certainly celery 5/8" satin ribbon (retired), perfect polka-dots ef, big shot, large oval punch, 1/2" circle punch, 1-3/4" & 2-3/8" scallop circle punches, glue dots, dimensionals.

Elements of Style Birthday

Happy Monday!

Boy - what a pretty weekend we had!  It was fun, too, with an outdoor wedding, family time, convertible rides and plenty of pool time.  Ahhh.  Gotta love summer :0)

Here's an elegant birthday card I made for my card buffets.  After stamping the main panel, I ran it through the Big Shot with one of the Designer Frames embossing folders.

Coral Field Flowers with a Touch of Glimmer

I thought this card with the Field Flowers stamp set was kind of neat.  I like the traditional colors with just a bit of glimmer.  I hadn't used glimmer paper since Christmas cards.  What a shame!    That kind of reminds me of my 9 year old granddaughter.  When asked what her favorite color is, she answers, "glitter!".  Funny girl!

Right now I am in between Friday sessions of my monthly Card Buffet.  This card is on the menu.

Stamp Set:  Field Flowers
Card Stock:  soft suede, whisper white, old olive, silver glimmer paper
Stamp Pads:  old olive, calypso coral, soft suede
Other:  soft suede 3/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, eyelet border punch (just retired).

Lots of Shapes for Birthdays

I usually stick to "party" themed birthday cards (balloons, cupcakes, etc.).  But I just found these two in my stash that I hadn't blogged about yet.  Neither is a party card, but they are both pretty happy.  Don't you think?

This one is pretty gender neutral. It was just on the Card Buffet for April and May and already a few things have retired.
Stamp Set:  Word Play
Card Stock:  sahara sand, marina mist, peach parfait (retired), real red, whisper white
Stamp Pad:  real red
Other:  stars #2 die, big shot, marina mist 1/4" grosgrain ribbon (retired), peach parfait ribbon (retired), crimper (retired), 1-3/4" circle punch, glue dot, dimensionals.

This next card is definitely more girly.  So many circles to punch and count!  It took a long time to make packets for these for a Card Buffet, but it was worth it.  I really like the effect of inlaid embossing.

I know this picture is awful (but the card is cute).  I was trying to use the light tent, but there really is nothing like natural light.  Well - at least if you're the kind of photographer I am.  ☺

Stamp Set:  Petite Pairs
Card Stock:  rich razzleberry, melon mambo, regal rose, whisper white
Stamp Pad:  rich razzleberry
Other:  lots of circle punches, pink pirouette 3/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, perfect polka-dots ef, big shot.

Best of Everything & Mixed Bunch

I've had this stamp set for several months and have only used it once.  I need to do something about that.  It's a really cute set.  Sigh many stamp sets - so few hours in a day.  {Sigh}

Tea Shoppe with New In-Colors

I finally made a card just for fun.  I love creating for my Card Buffets and other workshops.  But sometimes it is nice to just sit down and make one for my personal stash.  To not have to think and plan.

This card combines a little bit of old with a little bit of brand new and something in between.  The "old" is the Sweet Shoppe dsp that was in the Occasions Mini Catalog this spring.  You could still use Island Indigo dsp from 2011-2103 In Color Stack.  For the "new", I used new 2012-2014 In Colors which include the awesome new stamp pads.  I love them!  These tea cups stamped perfectly!  There are a few people that think more pressure on the stamp pad means better stamped images - they will need to adjust their technique.  The "in between" item I used is the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set.  It was in the Spring Mini Catalog.  I bought wood mount (more $) and only used it once.  I don't like it when I do that.  But - I was saved - the stamp set made it into the new annual catalog.

I CASEd my card from this one on Splitcoast.

Stamp Set:  Tea Shoppe
Card Stock:  gumball green, summer starfruit, whisper white, pool party, sweet shoppe dsp
Stamp Pads:  island indigo, raspberry ripple, pool party, gumball green, summer starfruit

Need for Speed Father's Day

I wanted to include a Father's Day card on my April and May Card Buffet.  I figured everyone might be getting tired of stars and trees for masculine cards, so I finally broke down a ordered the Need for Speed stamp set.  And now I'm glad I did. I foresee it being my new "go-to" set for man cards.

I used Debra Currier's great design and added a layer and omitted the brads.  I had the Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday stamps from the Best Dad Ever stamp set available for everyone to use.  The car is hand cut and popped up.

Stamp Sets:  Need for Speed, Best Dad Ever, Extreme Elements
Card Stock:  basic black, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  black stazon, lucky limeade
Other:  lucky limeade marker, dimensionals.

Aviary meet Everyday Enchantment on a Notecard

There are many things I love about Becky Robert's work on her Inking Idaho blog.  One is how she uses small pieces of designer paper and another is her note cards.  I've made oodles of cards, a few postcards, but never thought about note cards until visiting her blog.  This one that I cased from her combines both - dsp on a note card.

Stamp Sets:  Aviary, So Many Thanks
Card Stock:  riding hood red, very vanilla, basic black, everyday enchantment (2012 SAB)
Stamp Pads:  black stazon, riding hood red, luck limeade
Other:  scallop border punch, old olive 3/8" taffeta ribbon, glue dot.

Pool Party Tea Shoppe

I went back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to purchase Tea Shoppe stamp set from the last Occasions Mini Catalog.  After seeing so many samples that I loved, I decided that I needed it.  I ordered it pretty late in the catalog (meaning I couldn't use it at workshops).  I am happy to announce that it made its way into the new Annual Catalog.  Yay - now I won't have to use it in secret.  (just kidding).

This card was available at my Card Buffet.

My Friend

I know it's not officially summer if you go by the calendar and solar/lunar/equinox stuff.  But in my book, it IS summer and I am loving it!!  The new Stampin' Up! annual catalog is out.  The sun is shining in the windows nearly every day, the temperature is warm/hot, the pool is open and the best part - my granddaugther has been at our house for the past 5 days!    Ahh - summer!

I haven't been doing too much stamping lately (see above paragraph).  The new Stampin' Up! catalog brings along with it a long wish list which helps motivate me to clean out my stash.  I have some many retired goodies that will be offered at great prices at my open house this coming Friday.

Today's card was available on my card buffet a few months ago.

I found it on pinterest, but here is the original.

Stamp Set:  My Friend
Card Stock:  basic black, pretty in pink, crumb cake
Stamp Pad:  black stazon
Other:  square lattice ef, big shot, pretty in pink 5/8" satin ribbon (retired), glue dots, rhinestones.
