Seasonal Saturday - Distressed Dasher

Here's a card from my July and August Card Buffet.  I think this is the third year we've had the Single Stamp Dasher.  Although, I like elegant and sparkly Christmas cards, I like this style also.

After dry embossing the crumb cake layer, I gently rubbed my crumb cake stamp pad over the card stock - the raised snowflakes picked up the ink.  I sponged the edges with early espresso ink.  I used my scissor's edge to distress one of the early espresso layers and my bone folder to curl the corners.

CASEd from here.
Stamp Sets:  Dasher, Short & Sweet
Card Stock:  cherry cobbler, crumb cake, early espresso, very vanilla
Stamp Pads:  early espresso, crumb cake
Other:  cherry cobbler 1/2" seam binding ribbon, dimensionals, bone folder, sponge, nothern flakes ef, big shot.

Flashback Friday - Pun Fun

Happy Friday!

I used a 3 different flashback items on this card; stamp set, designer paper and ribbon.  I love the stamp set and the designer paper, but I would not have thought to use them together and until I saw this cute card.  You can still order old olive 5/8" ribbon in satin; just not grosgrain.

Stamp Set:  Pun Fun
Card Stock:  crumb cake, old  olive, water color, playdate dsp
Stamp Pads:  black staz-on, tempting turquoise, so saffron, real red
Other:  old olive 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, perfect polka-dots ef, big shot, aqua painter, dimensionals.

DSP and Big Shot Card

Can you believe I made this card and there is NO stamping on it?!?  I had a workshop the other night and this is one of the cards we made there.  Most of the ladies in the group have been stamping nearly as long as I have, so I didn't neglect teaching them to stamp.  ☺

I repeated the scallops of dsp and ribbon on the inside.  Check out the envelope - we covered the back flap with coordinating designer paper.

Stamp Set:  {none}
Card Stock:  old olive, baja breeze, whisper white, paisley petals dsp
Other:  old olive 5/8" satin ribbon, tasteful trims die, flower garden embossing folder, big shot, two way glue pen, rhinestones.

Whatever Wednesday - Angry Birds

Angry Birds was the first app my son downloaded on his phone, so I thought he would enjoy this birthday card.  Although no one is addicted, many other family members like his game, so we all got a kick out of the card.

I used a lot of punches.  For the background, I die cut the scallop oval frame out of scrap card stock and used it as a stencil.  I sponged around it with bashful blue ink.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Sets:  On Your Birthday, Happiest Birthday Wishes, Woodgrain
Card Stock:  whisper white, real red, wild wasabi, basic black, pumpkin pie, soft suede
Stamp Pads:  bashful blue, wild wasabi, real red
Punches:  1-3/8" circle, word window, slot (retired), owl, 3 hearts
Other:  rubber band, sticky strip, dimensionals, sponges.

Ten Minute Tuesday - My Friend

I just love this color combination!  I think black looks great with just about anything and here it is paired with a new in-color; Pool Party.  For this card, I used the new stamp set "My Friend".  I also used it for the card I shared 2 days ago for a totally different look.  And true to today's theme, this was a very quick card to make.
CASEd from here.

Stamp Set:  My Friend
Card Stock:  pool party, whisper white, basic black
Stamp Pads:  black staz-on, versamark
Other:  corner rounder, scallop edge punch, basic black 5/8" satin ribbon.

Mini Monday - Sail Away

I really do like this single stamp from the Summer Mini Catalog.  I've found more great uses for it than I thought I would.  Last week, I needed to send two "Thinking of You/Get Well" cards to men.  They were the last two masculine cards (other than birthday) that I had.  I thought this card from SCS was peaceful looking so I made three to replenish my supply.

I colored the sailboat with markers, then sponged around the main panel with marina mist ink.  I repeated the sailboat image on the inside but didn't use a sentiment - I can add that when/if the time comes to send them.

Stamp Set:  Sail Away
Card Stock:  early espresso, very vanilla, crumb cake
Stamp Pad:  marina mist
Other:  chocolate chip, crumb cake & marina mist markers, hemp twine, square lattice embossing folder, big shot, dimensionals.

Hello Lace Ribbon Border Punch

I thought this card was so striking when I saw it!  It uses 2 current in-colors, a new stamp set, a new border punch, one of my favorite ribbons and rhinestones.  What could make it better?  One thing - it's a a lot easier to make than it looks.  Bonus!

Stamp Set:  My Friend
Card Stock:  wisteria wonder, concord crush, whisper white.
Stamp Pad:  concord crush
Other:  lace ribbon border punch, rhinestones, whisper white organza ribbon, dimensionals.

Seasonal Saturday - Ice Cream Cone

Normally I think of ice cream is a great summertime treat.  We stopped at The Jug the other night for an ice cream.  Fortunately, we got out of the car and sat at a picnic table.  Before the waitress could get our ice cream out to our table, my cone was dripping.  It was 99 degrees at 8:00 in the evening.  Still beats winter, though!

The cone was made with the Pennant Builder Punch and the ice cream scoop is the frosting from the Build a Cupcake Punch.  Scroll down for a pictorial tutorial of how I made the little tag.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Set:  Fabulous Phrases
Card Stock:  blushing bride, whisper white, poppy parade, chocolate chip dsp/neutrals stack, just add cake dsp
Stamp Pad:  poppy parade
Punches:  1-3/4" circle, scallop edge, pennant builder, create a cupcake, designer label
Other:  dimensionals, perfect polka-dots ef, vintage wallpaper ef, top note die, big shot, blushing bride twill ribbon, sponge.

Tag directions:  Punch Designer Label Punch from scrap card stock.

Stamp greeting on short side(s) of label.
Holding the punch upside down, partially insert the label back into the punch from the short side.  Punch.
If you're making two tags, repeat the punching from the other side.
Oops - off center.  It's kind of awkward to hold the punch with one hand and a big camera in the other; keeping an ey on both at the same time - but you get the idea.  :0)

Flashback Friday - Animal Stories Anniversary

The Animal Stories stamp set just retired last month.  It had already moved to its new retirement home when I remembered that I wanted to make this card.  So it came back for short visit.   Isn't this just the cutest little anniversary card?!

After stamping the owls on crumb cake card stock with chocolate chip ink, I stamped them again on white card stock with bashful blue and pretty in pink ink.  Then I punched hearts out of the pink & blue owls to adhere to the chocolate ones.  I used my 3 hearts punch to make a stencil and sponged the pink heart over the word "Love".

Stamp Sets:  Animal Stories, Occasional Quotes (both retired)
Card Stock:  pretty in pink, whisper white, crumb cake, lucky limeade (new in-color)
Stamp Pads:  chocolate chip, pretty in pink, bashful blue
Other:  small heart punch, 3 heart punch, little leaves sizzlet, big shot, clear circle die, dimensionals, two-way glue pen, sponge.

Whatever Wednesday - Crazy for Cupcakes

This is the day that I share whatever card has recently caught my eye - no particular theme.  When sitting  at my computer yesterday, this birthday card in the slide show caught my attention.  I was so pleased with the way it turned out, I made 5 more.

For the inside (and envelope), I used the Cupcake from Got Treats and a sentiment from Sweet Little Sentiments.

Ten Minute Tuesday - Lace Ribbon Border Punch

I had seen a couple of people do this with the new Lace Ribbon Border Punch.  I was anxious to try it, but intentionally waited for a Tuesday because I was pretty sure I could whip out a pretty card in 10 minutes or less.  I did it this week - card front, inside and envelope in 8 minutes.  Ta-da!

I punched a strip of white card stock with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch.  Then I punched (4) 1" circles from Pool Party card stock and adhered them behind the bigger doilies of the lace strip.  I stuck a stampin' dimensional behind each colored circle to adhere it to the card.

 The inside:

A little more "stepped-up" version in pinks:

Stamp Sets:  Delicate Doilies, Short & Sweet
Card Stock:  whisper white, pool party, melon mambo, pretty in pink
Stamp Pads:  island indigo, pool party, melon mambo, pretty in pink
Other:  lace ribbon border punch, 1" circle punch, modern label punch, dimensionals, two-way glue pen.

Mini Monday - Strength & Hope

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for a fabulous week.  I survived 3 card buffets and am gearing up for the fourth and final tonight.

I am back today with another Mini Monday card.  I used the Strenth & Hope stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog.  Stampin' Up! donates $2.00 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every Strength & Hope stamp set purchased.  For the Butterfly image, I "rock and rolled" my stamp; first in baja breeze ink, then in not quite navy.

CASEd from here.
Stamp Set:  Strength & Hope
Card Stock:  naturals white, not quite navy, springtime vintage dsp (retired)
Stamp Pads:  not quite navy, baja breeze

Seasonal Saturday - Halloween Spider

Welcome to the fifth and final weekly theme day.  For Seasonal Saturday, I intend to share a seasonal project with you.  Although Halloween is not our current season, it is definitely a seasonal card.  ☺  This card is actually one of  the July and August Card Buffet options.

I had seen this card and liked the layout and how it showcased the Spider Web embossing folder.  There's not a lot on the front, but it doesn't look bare.  I prefer the Batty for You stamp set to the one used for the original card.

Stamp Set:  Batty for You
Card Stock:  basic black, rich razzleberry, old olive, whisper white, wicked cool dsp (retired)
Stamp Pad:  black staz-on
Other:  spider web embossing folder, big shot, scallop edge punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1-3/4" scallop circle punch.

I will see you back in 2 days for Mini Monday.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Flashback Friday - Chic Boutique and Pink Flamingo

My theme for Fridays is "Flashback".  It's an excuse for me to use some of my favorite products of the past.  It is not my goal to frustrate you  by showcasing products you can no longer purchase, but to inspire you to dust off old favorites and ink them up.

For this card, I used Chic Boutique stamp set that just retired last month and Pink Flamingo designer paper that was from 2 years ago.  I think I might make a few more of these cards - for those, I will move the dress forms closer together and use a Stamp-a-ma-jig to get them straight.  Oops!

CASEd from here.
Stamp Set:  Chic Boutique
Card Stock:  crumb cake, real red, pink flamingo dsp
Stamp Pads:  black staz-on, real red
Other:  markers, real red 5/8" satin ribbon, non SU border punch (purchased before I was a demonstrator).

Have a great weekend!!

Whatever Wednesday - Concord Crush Teacups

I have intentionally left 2 days blank in my schedule (see post from July 9) because it is not practical for me to  have a new project to share every day of the week.  As much as I would like to, I don't always have time to create and post.  Also, there are times when I am working on something but have to time when I can share it (for buffets, workshops, etc.).  So I gave myself 2 days wiggle room.  I'm not saying that I will never post on those days, but I can relax if I have to work on something else.

Originally I was planning on 3 open days a week; one of them being Wednesday.  But one idea kept coming back to me.  I finally decided to go with it - it commits me to posting, but not on a theme.  Whenever I see ideas that inspire me, I save them on my hard drive.  I have a photo slideshow on my desktop (thank you, Kristy!).  I decided on Wednesdays, I would make whatever catches my eye on the slideshow.  Get it?  Whatever Wednesday.  This morning , it was this card with the teacups.

The sentiment is from a brand new stamp set called Sweetly Said.  The designer paper is from last year's in-color hostess pack.  You can still get this color dsp in the 2010-2012 In Color Stack.

CASEd from this card.

Ten Minute Tuesday - Sympathy

You probably guessed - this is the 2nd of my weekly theme or challenge days called Ten Minute Tuesday.  If you don't know what I am talking about, please scroll down to yesterday's post.

My challenge for today was to make a card in 10 minutes.  I missed it, though.  It was 12 minutes (18 minutes including getting everything out, making the card & envelope, cleaning the stamps and putting everything away).  That's not too bad.  My goal is to show you that you can make a beautiful card in a short amount of time for those days when  you remember that you need a card as you are walking out the door  or you simply need a quick stamping fix.

Here's my quick card...  My Flower Garden Embossing Folder was just delivered today.  To make the flowers stand out a little more, I sponged over them very lightly with crumb cake ink.  For the inside, I used God's Blessings, Fifth Avenue Floral and light sponging on the edges.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, God's Blessings, Fifth Avenue Floral
Card Stock:  soft suede, very vanilla
Stamp Pads:  crumb cake, soft suede
Other:  sponge, very vanilla seam binding ribbon, flower garden ef, framed tulips ef, big shot.

Mini Monday - The Open Sea

I've been trying to figure out a solution for two small issues I am having.
  1. The first issue is I'm having difficulty posting to my blog on a regular basis.  This is usually when I am prepping a Stamp-A-Stack or Card Buffet; even though I am stamping, I prefer to share the projects after the workshop and I don't usually have time to make 2 projects during that time.
  2. The other problem is that I get excited about new stamp sets in the Mini Catalog, order them, then don't get around to using them much (or at all) before the end of the Mini.  Those of you that came to my Open House - did you notice how many of my retired stamp sets had not even been mounted?  Crazy!
Possible solutions:  I thought to post more often, maybe a planned theme would help; to create and share certain types of of projects or use particular tools on specific days.  For example:  Use products from the current mini catalog for projects to post on Mondays and call it "Mini Monday".  That example is a possible solution for the second dilemma.

So ... welcome to my first Mini Monday.  I've used the stamp set The Open Sea from the Summer Mini Catalog as well as Nautical Expressions Designer Series Paper.  The Early Espresso Baker's Twine was also introduced in the summer mini but has been carried over into the new Idea Book & Catalog.

I do have 3 more themed days planned.  Wishing me luck in sticking with it!

Just Add Cake (or a Cupcake)

Cake.  Cupcake.  Both are yummy - in my kitchen and in my stamp area.   I cut into a brand new pack of designer paper this morning called Just Add Cake.  And I used the Create a Cupcake Stamp Set.  I love the paper and the stamp set individually and they work great together, too.  One of the cool things about the paper is it lead me use some colors that I don't use very often.

Have a fabulous weekend!

I just saw this card post yesterday on one of my favorite blogs to follow.

Stamp Set:  Create a Cupckae
Card Stock:  poppy parade, baja breeze, so saffron, whisper white, just add cake dsp

Bold Blossoms Thank You card

I "borrowed" the Bold Blossoms stamp set out of one of my Card Buffet boxes to make this card.  It's a great stamp set to pair up with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.    The stamp set was in the Occasions Mini Catalog and is also now available in the Summer Mini Catalog.  BUT - it is not in the new Idea Book & Catalog.  So if you like it as much as I do, you might want to order it before the end of August.  Don't forget the awesome new punch.

This card will be included with qualifying orders in July.  (Now that I made that public, I better get busy).

Stamp Set:  Bold Blossoms
Card Stock:  crumb cake, real red, marina mist, bashful blue, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  old olive, real red
Other:  square lattic embossing folder, big shot, marina mist 1/8" taffeta ribbon, bouquet blossom triple layer punch, 3/4" circle punch, marina mist marker, dimensionals, rhinestone.
