Party This Way Balloons

Colorful, festive and quick - great qualities when you need a bunch of birthday cards!  I thought this card was going to be gender neutral ... but I added a tiny bit of bling (I just couldn't help myself).  Now I'm not too sure it would be guy appropriate.  Maybe I'll make a few more and try to leave off the rhinestones.

CASEd from here.

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you enjoy a fun holiday today and are able to take a moment to pause and give thanks to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

I had the 4th of July in mind when I made this card, but today is a great day to share it.  If you attend the June Card Buffet, you will be able to make your own (with one very slight color change).

I'm sorry that I can't link you to the original card.  Apparently I forgot to save it to my hard drive and I didn't write the info when I printed it.  Very unusual.

Stamp Sets:  Tiny Tags, Eastern Blooms
Card Stock:  not quite navy, whisper white, real red
Stamp Pad:  real red
Other:  1/2" circle punch, scallop edge punch, star punch, tiny tag punch, square lattice embossing folder, big shot, white baker's twine, whisper white 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, silver brad, dimensionals.

Very Girly Card

It's definitely pink.  And girly.  I like it and so do the two women that have seen it.  It was easier than I thought it would be to make.  But mine's not quite as "wow" as the original I CASEd.

After I dry embossed the top panel with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, I gently rubbed my craft white stamp pad over the raised areas.  I spritzed the flower dies with Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alchohol.  The pink corduroy brad is from the clearance rack here.  Oops - I just checked and there aren't any Pink buttons right now, but they are available in lots of other colors (only $2.99 for 24 buttons/brads).

Stamp Set:  Create a Cupckae
Card Stock:  pink pirouette, whisper white
Stamp Pads:  whisper white craft, crumb cake
Other:  vintage wallpaper embossing folder, fun flowers die, big shot, victoria crochet trim, pink corduroy brad, glue dots, bone folder, frost white shimmer paint (with rubbing alchohol in spray bottle).

Graduation Owl

I've seen several graduation cards made with the owl punch.  This is one of my favorites - so I CASEd it.
We only received one graduation announcement this year and it's out-of-state.  I looked the high school up on line to see the school colors.   They are blue and gray, so I made another card in those colors to mail to him.
For the first (green) card, I used the 1-3/4" scallop circle punch to make the wings.  For the second one, I used the scallop oval punch.  I'm not sure which one I like better.

Stamp Set:  Fun & Fast Notes
Card Stock:  crumb cake, chocolate chip, whisper white, old olive, night of navy dsp (regals stack), old olive & tempting turquoise dsp (brights stack), basic gray dsp (neutrals stack).
Stamp Pad:  chocolate chip
Other:  baker's twine, silver brad, owl punch, little leaves sizzlet, big shot, copy paper, dimensions, 2-way glue pen

Fancy Flower, Sweetheart

I love this card!! (Probably because it's so blue).  I have a few friends who like to set a card or two out for decoration.  I would do that with this one.

The leaves and bird are from the stamp set Sweetheart.  It's the one that has the hearts that you can punch out the centers for the sweet treats cups.  Well, here's another great use for that set.  I think the stem/leaves stamp is perfect for the Fancy Flower Punch!  Lots of different sentiments would be appropriate.

Stamp Sets:  Sweetheart, Fabulous Phrases, With All My Heart
Card Stock:  night of navy, bashful blue, whisper white, old olive

Rock & Roll Butterfly

Although I have seen it many times, this is the first time I tried the "Rock & Roll" Technique.  Check out the stamped butterfly image.  See how it's darker around the edges?  I first inked it up in Regal Rose ink, then gently rolled the edges of the stamp around in the Real Red stamp pad.  Then stamped.  If you're making more than one card or stamping the image more than once for the same card, it's important to clean the stamp between every image.  It's also important to ink up with the lighter color first.  This technique looks really good for flowers and leaves, too.

In the 3 minutes it took me to type that first paragraph, the weather went from bright & sunny to raining and sunny to dark and thunder and downpouring.  Ugh!  Is anybody else ready for the scorching days of summer?

Growing Green - in purples

Here is a monochromatic card using one of my newer stamp sets; Growing Green.  I used the delight stamp from the Define Your Life stamp set, but many different sentiments would fit in that punched shape.

Some of you saw this card on my display board and can testify that it is a whole lot prettier in real life!  I had a terrible time getting the colors to show up right!  (Hint - this card may show up at a buffet soon).

Curly Cute and Greenhouse Gala

I was so exciited when I stumbled onto this card.  It uses the Curly Cute stamp set which has the cutest font.  And it also uses scraps of Greenhouse Gala designer paper.  I used that paper for my Collage Class in December and still have scraps.  I love that you can still see the colors and patterns in tiny 1" squares.

You will most likely see this card at the June Card Buffet.

Stamp Set:  Curly Cute
Card Stock:  whisper white, early espresso, geenhouse gala dsp
Stamp Pad:  early espresso

The Calm Before the Workshop

This is my May Stamp-A-Stack weekend.  I had everything completely ready yesterday.  Shocked?  It was so nice to go down into my clean and prepped stamp area this morning - I thought I would share pictures with you.  Or maybe I took them to remind myself that I can still have peace and order when preparing for 8 guests (22 over 3 sessions) in a very small area.  :0)

We have stairs going down the center of our basement.  My stampin' area is the back part of one side - not really a "room" per se.  I love the openness.  I have lots of cabinets and a counter for working.  Even room for a friend to come play!

I have all of the tools ready for the workshop and on one side of the counter.  That's also where we do any heat embossing.
This is the back wall (the cabinets/counter are on the right).  I've shown pictures of most of this before.  Since then, I did add the DVD shelf to the right of the file cabinet to hold my clear mount stamps.
Two of the black leatherette boxes in cubbies hold baggies with all of the packets for the Stamp-A-Stacks today and tomorrow.  In the next photo, you can see the bottom row of cubbies.  We bought the 2-drawer inserts - perfect for my punches!!

Table for 8.  Cozy!  The shorter cubby on the left stores toys for my grandchildren.  I can't have ALL the fun!  If you look above it, at the dry erase board, you can see prototype cards for future events.  I am planning a Card Buffet for June that will include 12 different designs.  Being able to see all of them at once like this,  helps me to sort and eliminate.

Another 8 cubbie unit - this one's for me!  Here I store extra cards, ribbon & embellishments, scrapbooks and another box with the supplies for the 3rd SAS.  The Market Basket on the top is where I keep things I need to hand out; mostly orders and kits.  The little black box beside it holds the cards I include with qualifying orders.

That's probably waaay more than you wanted to know.  I was just so excited to be ready early and relaxed this morning!  And for those of you that read my blog AND attend my workshops - sorry to bore you!  Thanks for bearing with me - and for coming to play.

Happy Stampin!

Pun Fun Bird-day Card

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile.  It's not like I haven't been stamping!  I've been busy making potential Stamp-a-Stack and Card Buffet cards and I actually have 16 cards awaiting photo shoots.  Who knows - after you see a card on here, you may see it again at a workshop ....

This was a very quick card to make.  The Pun Fun stamp set is really cute.  It does require some kind of coloring.  To color the bird, I scribbled my markers on a clear block, then picked the ink up with a blender pen.  Very easy and no mess!

Stamp Pad:  black staz-on
Other:  marina mist, pretty in pink and daffodil delight markers, blender pen, marina mist 3/8" taffeta ribbon, perfect polka-dots embossing folder, big shot, large oval punch, scallop oval punch, dimensionals.

Daisies for Summer

I think we may have skipped right over spring.  I guess that's ok.  Hot sure beats cold!  Anyway, I thought this was such a cute card and it was fun to make on an early summer day.

The stamp is from the set "A Flower for All Seasons".  I got it free during last year's Sale-a-Bration and this is the first time I've used it.  The designer paper is from the free Hostess Pack.  I added the daffodil to the daisy centers with my marker.  To color the watering can and frog, I used a blender pen in the stamp pad lid.

Apple Blossom Mother's Day

It's funny how mood and sunlight affect how I like a card.  I made this the other evening and wasn't "feeling" it.  The weather was dark and rainy.  I was cold and grumpy and just didn't feel like stamping.  I left it all on my craft counter and hit the couch.  Then yesterday, I walked by this card while the sun was shining and it caught my eye as such a pretty card.  It pulled me in and before I knew it, I was crafting away.

Sew Suite Mother's Day

Before you say anything - I know this isn't a Mother's Day card.  But it is just like the Mother's Day card that I made for Jeff to mail to his mom.  I gave it to him without taking a picture...and I still had the stuff out...and I always mail a birthday card to a seamstress friend...so I made another card, but switched the greetings.

I really grew to like the sewing themed products from the Occasions Mini Cataglog.  I wish I had used them more before they retired.  I hope to see them return in the new Idea Book and Catalog -- just 2 more months.
I stamped the dress form on a piece of scrap designer paper and cut it out to layer over the main stamped image; this is called paper piecing.  I wanted to raise the piece on dimensionals, but since dsp isn't quite as sturdy as card stock, I mounted it on white card stock, before cutting it out.  This made is stiff enough to be raised without waving.

Best Dad Ever!

It's hard to believe that it's May already.  I guess all of this rain and gloomy weather makes it seem like winter really hasn't ended.  None-the-less, we have flipped the calendar page to May which means it is time for the new Summer Mini Catalog.

Here is the first card I made with a new stamp set called "Best Dad Ever".  Besides the two I used, the sentiments also include "happy birthday" and "thinking of you".
