Mini Monday - Stitched Stockings

Happy Halloween!

Sorry I've been MIA.  I was on such a roll making cards to share on my blog.  I left stuff out because I wanted to make more of some of them.  But they started piling up and I was getting a mess which I do not like (I think I might be allergic to messes).  Anyway,  I banned myself from making new cards until I finished what was started.  Ahh - all better now!

I actually made 6 new cards yesterday for the November/December card buffets.  I'm not quite ready to show those yet.

But I can share what we made at Karen's workshop last week:

What Holiday Mini Products did we use?  Snowburst Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Satin Quilted Ribbon, Stitched Stockings Stamp Set, Stocking Builder Punch, Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper and Silver Glitter Paper.

 CASEd from here.

Love this glitter paper.  Much prettier in real life and no mess!
Stamp Sets:  Stitched Stockings, Serene Snowflakes, Christmas Greetings
Card Stock:  crumb cake, whisper white, cherry cobbler, garden green, silver glitter, frostwood lodge dsp
Stamp Pads:  whisper white craft, garden green, crumb cake, cherry cobbler
Other:  snowburst ef, big shot, cherry cobbler quilted satin ribbon, stocking builder punch, dimensionals, cherry cobber bakers twine.

Aren't these little baby booties so cute?!  We stamped one of the stockings, cut off the cuff and reattached it lower - to look like a short bootie instead of a long stocking.  It's nice to have another use for an otherwise-only Christmas stamp set.
CASEd from here.
Stamp Set:  Stitched Stockings
Card Stock:  whisper white, bashful blue
Stamp Pad:  bashful blue
Other:  perfect polka-dots ef, square lattice ef, big shot, stocking builder punch, 2-3/8" scallop circle punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, dimensionals, whisper white bakers twine.

Seasonal Saturday - Letters to Santa & Perfect Punches

For several reasons, I am super excited about this Christmas Card.  One reason is it made me change my mind about the Letters to Santa designer paper.  Now I like the paper - but then, how could I go wrong when I paired it with the silver glitter paper?  With 2 sheets of each design, I will be able to make 28 cards like this one.  I'm sure the other designs will turn into something pretty, also.

It was also my first time to use a Mini Jingle Bell from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I just dropped a dab of crystal effects where I wanted the bell and set it in.  For mailing, I will probably try to tie it to the silver cord.  My silver cord is the really, really old spool from Stampin' Up! (not the kind that was recently available).  I only have enough for a couple more cards.  Then I will have to hunt some down - I need the really skinny kind if it's ever going to fit through the bell.

CASEd from a really pretty new blog than I just stumbled across:  Stampin' Seasons.

Stamp Set:  Perfect Punches
Card Stock:  cherry cobbler, whisper white, silver glitter, letters to santa dsp
Stamp Pad:  cherry cobbler
Punches:  1-1/4" circle, 1-3/8" circle, 1-3/4" scallop circle, scallop edge, postage stamp
Other:  silver cord, dimensionals, crystal effects, jingle bell.

Flashback Friday - Artistic Etchings Anniversary

Have you ever bought or made something that you just weren't too sure about.  Then you come back to it later and know if stays or goes?  Well, I was kind of that way with this card.  I made it Wednesday evening and didn't like it as much as I thought I would.  I wasn't in my stamping area yesterday {gasp}.  When I walked by it this morning, I liked it a lot!  I am low on anniversary cards and all of the supplies are still out (oops) so I think I will make a few more.

The only thing "flashback" about this card is the Love Letters designer paper.  The current First Edition specialty paper would work well, also.

Have a great weekend!
I CASEd a card by Kathy Baffone, but I dont' think she has a blog to link to.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings
Card Stock:  very vanilla, basic black, love letters dsp
Stamp Pads:  black stazon, crumb cake
Other:  nesties, big shot, dimensionals, basic black 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon.

Ten Minute Tuesday - Day of Gratitude

Here's a quick and cute card that is perfect for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.  I used Day of Gratitude Stamp Set which is available in the current Idea Book and Catalog.

I CASEd this card from mamamostamps on Splitcoast.  She is one of my favorite stampers - she has a great talent for making CAS (clean and simple) cards that are still beautiful.

Stamp Sets:  Day of Gratitude, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock:  very vanilla, early espresso
Stamp Pads:  crumb cake, early espresso, pumpkin pie
Other:  dimensionals, brights buttons, linen thread, glue dot.

Mini Monday - Haunted Forest

I'm still working on Halloween cards to mail to friends and family.  What I really need to do is start Christmas cards since I mail more of those.  Plus I want to give you ideas early enough to order the supplies you need to make your own.  There's always something on my stampin' to-do list which is a good thing if you ask me.  :0)

For this card, I chose the Haunted Forest single stamp from the Holiday Mini Catalog.    I colored in the stamped image a little with my blender pen and stamp pad lids.  For just a litte more "oomph", I spritzed the stamped panel with Vanilla Smooch Spritz.

Thanks to Lisa Martz for the original card found here.

Stamp Set:  Haunted Forest
Card Stock:  basic gray, basic black, whisper white, frightful sight dsp
Stamp Pads:  black staz-on, cajun craze, old olive, basic gray
Other:  blender pen, old olive scallop dots ribbon, dimesionals, vanilla smooch spritz, stampin' sponge.

Seasonal Saturday - Wicked Cool

Wicked Cool is probably my all-time favorite Halloween stamp set (although, I am also loving Spooky Bingo Bits).  I am so happy with the way this card turned out!  I had enough pumpking pie buttons and leftover paper that I was able to make 6 cards.  Because of the button, they will require extra postage, but it's worth it!

For this card, I did use Wicked Cool Specialty Paper from last year (retired).  But there is a really cute, large polka-dot designer paper available this year in the Frightful Sight pack that would still make a really cute card with the same layout.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Set:  Wicked Cool
Card Stock:  basic gray, whisper white, wicked fun specialty (ret)
Stamp Pad:  black stazon
Other:  2-1/2" circle punch, basic black 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon, basic black 1/8 taffeta ribbon, brights buttons, pumpkin pie marker.

Flashback Friday - Sweet & Sour

Photos and computer monitors don't always show us exactly how a card looks in real life.  So in case you aren't sure - YES, this is a bright card.  It's really pretty, though.  A very happy card.

When I saw this great card on Julie B's blog, I loved the border punch.  As it turns out, it's not a border punch, she punched 5 flowers from the Triple Layer Flower Punch and layered them under the card stock strip to look like a border.  So clever!

Stamp Set:  Happy Greetings (retired)
Card Stock:  pumpkin pie, rose red, sweet & sour dsp (ret), whisper white
Stamp Pad:  black staz-on
Other:  triple layer flower punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, 2-3/8" scallop circle punch, 2" circle die, big shot, brights buttons, neutrals buttons, linen thread, glue dots, dimensionals.

Whatever Wednesday - Crosses of Hope

This summer at Vacation Bible School, 150 children invited Jesus into their hearts.  Isn't that amazing?!  It was powerful to see 150 hearts with the children's names laying at the alter the following Sunday.  After the worship service, the hearts were gathered into a basket.  As we left, each family drew out a heart and committed to pray for that child for a year.  We drew the name of a little girl that we know - not well, but we know her grandma well.  Anyway, we bought her a gold cross and necklace (Jeff's idea - isn't he sweet?)  and this is the card I made to go with it.

CASEd from here.
Stamp Set:  Crosses of Hope
Card Stock:  pink pirouette, whisper white
Stamp Pad:  versamark
Other:  tulip frame ef, big shot, silver embossing powder, heat tool, dimensionals, whisper white organza ribbon.

Pear Pizzazz Thoughts & Prayers

I made a sympathy card a couple of weeks ago and knew that I wanted to make another design to also have on hand.  I finally got around to doing that.  I now have my stash replenished and hope it stays that way.  I love making and sending cards, just preferably for happy occasions.

Stamp Pads:  pear pizzazz, early espresso

Season Saturday - Wicked Cool

When I saw this great card by Anne Marie Hile, I really liked it, plus it uses some of the designer paper scraps from my last collage workshop.  Since I haven't yet finished my Halloween cards to mail to family and friends, I may just have to whip up a few more of these.

Rich Razzleberry is really difficult to photograph.  I played around with my photo editing software and got it a little better.  I just now realized that, in doing that, I goofed up the old olive and basic gray.  {sigh}

Stamp Set:  Wicked Cool
Card Stock:  old olive, basic gray, rich razzleberry, whisper white, frightful sight dsp
Stamp Pad:  black staz-on
Other:  rhinestones, dimensionals, rich razzleberry 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain ribbon (retired), nestability (non SU), 1-3/4" circle punch, scallop edge punch, rich razzleberry & old olive markers, stripes ef, big shot.

Flashback Friday - Branch Out

I almost didn't want to make a "flashback" card for today.  I think I must be getting over my retired stamp sets and just want to play with some of my new goodies.  But...when I opened my cabinet, my old favorite, Branch Out, jumped out at me.  Once I chose the stamp set, I got on a roll - I was surprised at how many retired items I still had around (stamp set, card stock/ink, designer paper, embellishments).

I just bought some colorful mums yesterday and our grass and ferns are still very green.  Plus, we are enjoying lots of sunshine and warm temperatures.  Everything outside looks beautiful and this card just suits the weather and season.

CASEd from here.

Stamp Pads:  kiwi kiss (ret), going gray (ret), chocolate chip, old olive, tangerine tango

Whatever Wednesday - Create-a-Cupcake

My dad's birthday was a couple of weeks ago and my mom brought one of his cards to me because she thought it would inspire me to make a card.  I don't know what was funnier - that she presumed something would inspire me or that she was right.  In truth, I had already eyed this card and my wheels were turning.

This is the store bought card Dad received:
There are cupcake-shaped cut-outs on the front and the actual cupcake images are on the inside of the card.
 Here is my version:

The stamped cupcake is on the inside of the card, but I punched a circle on the card front so you can see it when the card is opened and when it is closed.  When the card is closed flat, the white circle and cupcake are centered in the red scallop and you do not see the yellow scallop that is on the inside of the card.

Stamp Set:  Create a Cupcake
Card Stock:  tempting turquoise, real red, daffodil yellow, whisper white, big top birthday dsp
Stamp Pads:  real red (sentiment inside), daffodil yellow, tempting turquoise
Punches:  1-3/4" circle, 2-3/8" scallop circle, bitty shapes pack, cupcake builder
Other:  real red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, dimensional, rhinestone.

Mini Monday - Spice Cake Fabric

In the Holiday Mini Catalog, you can find fabric to match the Spice Cake Designer Paper.  Stampin' Up! has actually been offering fabrics for a year now, but it's my first time to use it (not my first time to buy it).  Also from the current mini catalog, I used a leaf stamp from Gently Falling.  I "rock and rolled" the stamp; first I inked it up in the more mustard stamp pad, then I rolled the edges of the ink around in the soft suede pad.  I softly stamped off so the leaf wouldn't totally overpower the sentiment.

For the oval, I used the new designer frame embossing folder on soft suede card stock, tore around the edges, then punched out the center with the xl oval punch.  I used the same punch for the large embossed vanilla panel, then lined up the stamped image behind that oval.

CASEd from Lakeshore Stamper's card on 8/16/11.

Stamp Sets:  Gently Falling, Grateful Greetings
Card Stock:  soft suede, pool party, very vanilla
Stamp Pads:  more mustard, soft suede
Other:  spice cake fabric, designer frames ef, square lattice ef, bg shot, xl oval punch.

Seasonal Saturday - Spooky Bingo Bits

I can't believe it is October already!  I'm actually ok with time passing quickly right now.  I am anxious for my Mom's chemo treatments to be over with and for her to be better.  Then I will look forward to spring and want time to slow back down so I can savor the summer months.  Summer is barely over and I am already anticipating it coming back - can you tell my favorite season?!

Anyway, in the spirit of fall and Halloween approaching, I have a cute card to share.  If it looks familiar, picture it with bright colors and cupcakes ... or just check out this post from May.  The same artist that created the cupcake card, Pink Buckaroo Designs, also created this one and shared it here.

Stamp Set:  Spooky Bingo Bits
Card Stock:  basic black, whisper white, peach parfait, tangerine tango, riding hood red, concord crush
Stamp Pads:  peach parfait, tangering tango, riding hood red, concord crush
Other:  basic black 1/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionls, 3/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, 1-1/4" square punch.
