Saint Nick Tent Card

This is another card from the November Stamp-A-Stack.  We hadn't made a tent card before.  They are fun to make and look cute sitting out.  The only thing to really watch is to make sure the main panel isn't mounted too high on the card base to fit in the envelope.

I just love this santa stamp!  We added glitter to the fur on his hat for an extra twinkle.

White Washed Snowflakes

I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving!  Our Christmas decorations are finished and so is the shopping.  I'm looking forward to wrapping, stamping and really enjoying the holidays!

It's been several days since I showed a card.  I've been focused on holiday activites and workshops but there's another reason:  A little over a month ago, Blogger made enhancements to the way we load photos to blogs.  It was so nice to add several at once.  One step forward.  Then a few weeks ago, something happened that made it worse than ever.  Two giant steps backwards.   Seriously - it made blogging a pain in the tushe.  I am happy to report that, today, it is back to where it was before the enhancements.  Phew!

This is one of the cards we made at the November Stamp-A-Stack.  To get the white washed effect over the embossed snowflakes, we gently rubbed my Whisper White Craft stamp pad over the embossed areas.

Cased from this card on SCS.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Tags till Christmas, Christmas Greetings.  Card Stock:  crumb cake, whisper white, pear pizzazz, basic black.  Stamp Pads:  old olive, basic black, whisper white craft.  Accessories:  victorian lace crochet trim, basic black 1/8" taffeta ribbon, clear rhinestone, northern flurries embossing folder, glue dot, dimensionals, sticky strip.  Tools:  ornament punch, big shot.

Shimmery Dasher

We made this card at this past weekend's Stamp-A-Stack.  I considered it the "warm up" card.   If you saw the gift card holder I shared Monday, you can understand why we started with something simple.  :0)

After stamping the front top-note panel, we sprayed it with Champagne Shimmer Paint mixed with alcohol.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Dasher, Lovely As a Tree, Christmas Greetings.  Card Stock:  real red, naturals ivory, soft suede.  Stamp Pads:  real red, soft suede.  Accessories:  5/8" real red grosgrain ribbon, champagne shimmer paint, glue dots, top note die, lattice weave embossing folder.  Tools:  big shot.

Candy Cane Christmas Gift Card Holder

I had promised to make a gift card holder for my November Stamp-A-Stack.  I had been searching for one that was different than any I had previously made.  When I stumbled on this one on It's A Stamp Thing Blog, I had to give it a try.  I love it and hoped everyone else would, too.  I made a few very minor adjustments to make it work for a large workshop.  Although it was not the easiest project we ever made at a workshop, I still think everyone liked the end result.  Some don't want to part with theirs, even though they made two.

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Four the Holidays.  Card Stock:  baja breeze, real red, whisper white, garden green, Candy Cane Christmas specialty.  Stamp Pad:  real red.  Accessories:  candy cane designer buttons, glue dots, vecro dots.  Tools:  1" and 1-1/4" circle punches, small and large oval punches.

Glistening Tree

This is the other card we made at my workshop Friday evening.  We used the glue pen to add dazzling diamonds glitter to the tree and centers of the embossed flowers.  Much prettier in real life!

I CASEd this from Janis Sinko on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Lovely As a Tree, Seasonal Sentiments.  Card Stock:  whisper white.  Stamp Pad:  old olive.  Accessories:  old olive 3/8" taffeta ribbon, petals-a-plenty embossing folder, dimensionals, glue pen, dazzling diamonds.  Tools:  big shot.

Contempo Christmas Gift Card Holder

I made this card for a workshop Friday.  It's a gift card holder styled like the one I shared yesterday.  It's standard A2 size (4.25"x5.5") so it could be adapted to a regular Christmas card.

The "branch" that the ornament is hanging from is the evergreen tree from the Lovely As a Tree stamp set.

Inspired by this card.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Contempo Christmas, Lovely As a Tree.  Card Stock:  old olive, cherry cobbler, very vanilla, jolly holiday dsp.  Stamp Pads:  old olive, cherry cobbler.  Accessories:  old olive marker, old olive 3/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, glue dot.  Tools:  ornament punch, scallop border punch, word window punch, 1" circle punch.

Candy Cane Gift Card Holder

I'm baaack!  Sorry it's been a few days since I've posted.  I've been very busy - mostly fun busy!

We are nearly finished with our Christmas shopping.  We like to buy actual presents, but occasionally we will give gift cards.  I like to make some kind of packaging for those; either boxes or cards with pockets.   The card I'm showing today holds a gift card.  I've made a similar style before that's like the insert and used the open-end envelope.  I never thought to adapt it to fit inside a standard A2 card until I saw this one on Card Scraps blog.  Pretty clever, isn't it?!

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Four the Holidays.  Card Stock:  crumb cake, real red, whisper white, blushing bride, candy cane christmas specialty paper.  Stamp Pad:  real red.  Accessories:  real red corduroy button (retired), white embroidery floss (not SU), glue dots, lattice weave embossing folder.  Tools:  scallop border punch, northern frost sizzlet decorative strip, big shot.

Punch Potpourri and Elegant Lines

I actually made a card the other day that is not a Christmas card.  It was fun, quick and I got to use some of my neglected new toys.  I don't think I had used the new elegant lines embossing folder since my open house in July.

CASEd from here.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Punch Potpourri, Absolutely Fabulous.  Card Stock:  very vanilla, pear pizzazz, blushing bride.  Stamp Pads:  early espresso,. pear pizzazz, blushing bride.  Accessories:  very vanilla 5/8" satin ribbon, dimensionals, elegant lines embossing folder.  Tools:  big shot, full heart punch, blender pen.

Jolly Old Saint Nick Returns

I don't usually make whimsical cards and I can usually take or leave retro stamps.  But I am absolutely loving my Jolly Old Saint Nick stamp set!!  I especially love using it with the Candy Cane Christmas Specialty Paper.  I have 2 more packs ordered; one for my next Stamp-A-Stack and one for me.  :0)

I think this sentiment from the Just Believe stamp set is a perfect match to the Santa image.  Don't you agree?

Fun ribbon treatment!  This card was CASEd from Lee H. on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website.
I got the idea for Santa peeking in the inside of the card from Canopy Crafts blog here.
Even the envelope is jolly!  Are you smiling yet?

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Jolly Old Saint Nick, Just Believe.  Card Stock:  baja breeze, real red, basic black, whisper white, candy cane Christmas specialty.  Stamp Pads:  black staz-on, real red, baja breeze.  Accessories:  red & silver brads, real red 3/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, real red, blush blossom, sahara sand and blushing bride markers.  Tools:  1-3/4" circle punch, scallop border punch, sticky strip, sponge.

November 2010 Thank You Cards

This is the card that I'm including with qualifying orders in November.  I used the single stamp "Elizabeth" which hadn't appealed to me too much until I saw this card that I CASEd.

The "thank you" is from the Because I Care hostess set.  I stamped the Elizabeth stamp a second time on very vanilla scrap card stock with daffodil delight and hand-cut the oval, then added it over the first stamping with dimensionals.  The tiny pearls add more subtle elegance.  The pineapple that I stamped on the inside and the envelope is from the Friends Never Fade Stamp Set and coordinates perfectly with the designer paper from the Greenhouse Gala pack.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Elizabeth, Because I Care, Friends Never Fade.  Card Stock:  early espresso, very vanilla, greenhouse gala dp.  Stamp Pads:  early espresso, daffodil delight.  Accessories:  early espresso 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, ahesive pearls.  Tools:  ticket corner punch.

Look Who's Coming to Town

It's Santa!!
I know.  I know.  Thanksgiving isn't even here yet.  But we have to be ready for Christmas early.  Right?

I had seen this cute card on Inking Idaho.  If you think I stalk that blog - you're right!  If you look closely, you can see that I sprayed the snowflake with frost white shimmer paint (mixed with alcohol).

I did something a little differnt with the way this card opens.  I sealed it shut the first inch on the left with sticky strip.  It only opens at the point of the ribbon.  The next photos show what I mean.  Isn't it too cute?!

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Jolly Old Saint Nick.  Card Stock:  real red, blushing bride, whisper white, Candy Cane Christmas specialty paper.  Stamp Pads:  real red, blushing bride, black staz-on.  Accessories:  real red, blush blossom & blushing bride markers, perfect polk-dots embossing folder, real red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, sticky strip.  Tools:  corner rounder punch, big shot.

Christmas "Jingle" Collage

I had so much fun making this collage over the weekend.  I hope to get one make for Halloween (with the Wicked Fun specialty paper) and one for Thanksgiving (with the Autumn Spice specialty paper).  It woudl be great to have one for several holidays and one for "every day".   Then I can just change them in and out of the frame.

I had seen it here and tracked back to her blog.  There I saw her original collage ("family") and I purchased the tutorial.  It's really simple and I only wanted to know the dimensions of the squares so I didn't really need to purchase the tutorial.  But it was only $1.95 and I am so grateful to those very talented bloggers out there.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Season of Joy, Contempo Christmas.  Card Stock:  12x12 very vanilla textured, basic black, jolly holiday dp, very vanilla, old olive, cherry cobbler.  Stamp Pads:  old olive, cherry cobbler.  Accessories:  cherry cobbler & old olive markers, Serif Essentials alphabet dies, Join in the Cheer sizzlet strip die, real red 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Northern Frost decorative strip die, old olive 5/8" satin ribbon, Merry Details sizzlet, pearls, rhinestones, very vanilla 3/8" taffeta ribbon, gold cord, white gel pen.  Tools:  Big Shot,  1-3/4" circle punch, xl scallop circle punch, 1" circle punch, 1/4" circle punch, word window punch, ornament punch.
