Note Cards and Box

I made this little box and filled it with 3x3 notecards for each of my hostesses last week.  Considering I'm not so great with 3-D projects, I was fairly pleased with how the boxes turned out.

I got the idea when I saw this cute set of notecards on the Me, My, Stamps and I blog.  I liked how she featured all of the current in-colors.  However, they didn't all go with the box I made, so I stuck with Rich Razzleberry.

The box was made from a tutuorial here on Splitcoaststampers.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Matchbox Messages, Simply Said, Picture This.  Card Stock:  old olive, rich razzleberry, whisper white, cottage wall dsp.  Ink:  basic black, rich razzleberry.  Accessories:  1/2" rich razzleberry polka-dot grosgrain ribbon, linen thread, dimensional, rich razzleberry marker.  Tools:  scallop border punch, 1/16" hole punch, scor-pal, 1-1/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, sticky strip.

Sweet Pea Birthday

This is the last week for the Spring Occasions Mini Catalog which means it's also the last week for the Sweet Pea Designer Paper and Stitched Felt.  I love the colors and designs in this paper!  It's a big pack, too (48 sheets of double-sided 12x12 paper).  Using little squares like on this card will help make it last longer.  You know how I tend to hoard my pretty paper :0)

Supplies used the expire 4/30/10:  Sweet Pea Designer Paper, Sweet Pea Stitched Felt, Well-Scripted Stamp Set.

I saw this card here and CASEd it the very same day.  Love it!

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Well Scripted, Curvy Verses, Cheep Talk (flower inside).  Card Stock:  soft suede, taken with teal, whisper white, old olive, sweet pea dsp.  Ink:  soft suede, taken with teal, rose red.  Accessories:  pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, sweet pea stitched felt, dimensionals, glue dots.  Tools:  xl bird punch, 1-1/4" square punch.

April 2010 Stamp-A-Stack #2 Butterfly

After the tablet and single-layer card, we made this card at last weekend's Stamp-A-Stack.  I offered a variety of sentiment stamps; get well wishes and happy birthday were most popular.

I had found this card on a blog that I love to visit:  Simple and Sincere.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Flight of the Butterfly, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Card Stock:  crushed curry, real red, whisper white.   Ink:  real red, crushed curry.  Accessories:  3/4" real red polka-dot grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals.  Tools:  mat pack, paper piercer, nestabilities, big shot, butterfly punch, stamp-a-ma-jig.

April 2010 Stamp-A-Stack #1 - Awash with Flowers

Again, I used the Awash with Flowers Stamp Set on a single layer card.  The card base is Sahara Sand which is very nuetral, but we glammed it up with glitter.  Love combining simple with some pop!

This was the second project we made at myStamp-A-Stack last weekend.  It was a good choice to follow the Tablet Folder.   Nothing like quick and easy to build the confidence back up.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets: Awash with Flowers, On Your Birthday.  Card Stock:  sahara sand.  Ink:  black staz-on, bermuda bay, melon mambo, old olive.  Accessories:  glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, 1/2" bermuda bay polka-dot grosgrain ribbon.

I found this card sample of the SU demonstrator website which I can link you, too.  But I was able to find the original creator's blog.  So here it is.

Mother's Day Sweet Treats

I had a great workshop last night.  I really enjoyed spending the evening with this group of ladies! Thanks Jane and Donna!

For the project, I was asked to make a Mother's Day card using the Sweet Treats Cup filled with candy.
With inspiration from a few different places and my own thinking, this is what I came up with:

My hostess was happy and that made me happy!

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Well-Scripted.  Card Stock:  whisper white, chocolate chip, regal rose, old olive.  Ink:  chocolate chip, regal rose.  Accessories:  whisper white taffeta ribbon, white brad, sweet treats cups, white m&m's (from Walmart).  Tools:  wide oval punch, large oval punch, trio flower punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, mat pack, paper piercer.

April 2010 Stamp-A-Stack File Folder Notebook

I eliminated a card from my April Stack-A-Stack and in its place we made one of these File Folder Notebooks.  I found the tutorial here on Splitcoaststampers.  I know I enjoyed making them and I think everyone else did too.  Here are a few that I made to fill my kit orders.  I got pretty fast at making them.  The hardest part is deciding which I like best.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Define Your Life, Flight of the Butterfly.  Card  Stock:  whisper white.  Ink:  soft suede, melon mambo/bermuda bay.  Accessories:  Thoroughly Modern File Folder, ribbon, linen thread, 5x8 tablet, sticky back velcro, sticky strip.  Tools:  personal trimmer/scorer, craft knife, cutting mat, wide oval punch, 1/16" hole punch.

Totally Tess Birthday

Two of my stamping friends had birthdays this week.  This is the card I made for each of them, using my new Tote-ally Tess stamp set.  This is such a fun stamp set.  Instead of stamping supplies, I added a cupcake to her hand from the Short & Sweet stamp set (same set as the greeting).

When I saw this card on Jill Hilliard's blog, I knew I had to make one for Jo.  I was so excited that I still had some of that retired paper left.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Tote-ally Tess, Short & Sweet.  Card Stock:  purely pomegranate, bashful blue, whisper white, cutie pie dsp.  Ink:  black staz-on.  Accessories:  SU! and copic markers, dimensionals, 1" stitched bashful blue grosgrain ribbon.  Tools:  small, large and scallop oval punches.

Simply Said Saffron & Suede

Bright & Clean - Awash with Flowers

I had a workshop Monday evening and we used the new Awash with Flowers Stamp Set to make this CAS (clean and simple) card.  We're receiving a "sneak peek" of this stamp set in April and it will be in the new catalog beginning July 1.  I'll be sharing lots of great cards using it soon.

Happy 7th Birthday, Emma!

Today is my granddaughter's 7th birthday.  In some ways it seems like the time has flown by.  Yet, it is sometimes hard to remember life before Emma.  She really managed to take over and fill our hearts!

This picture was taken Easter.  Emma sure does love her Poppy!

This is the birthday card I made for our  little princess:

Notice how the bear's dress is the same pattern as the designer paper?  I stamped a second bear on the designer paper and cut it out and adhered it to the main image.  So cute!  I love these Build-A-Bear Workshop stamps!  I'm so lucky to have an excuse to use them.  My inspiration came from this blog

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Beary Best Friends, Beary Nice WishesCard Stock:  pretty in pink, soft suede, whisper white, razzleberry lemonade dsp.  Ink:  black staz-on, melon mambo, soft suede, creamy caramel.  Accessories:  1/2" melon mambo polka-dot grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, glue dot, gold brad, felt fusion flower.  Tools:  nestabilities, big shot, aquapainter.

Great Friend Butterfly

Yesterday was my stamping day with my long-time stamping buddies.  This is the card that I took to share.  The original had So Saffron ribbon which I liked.  I decided to give Certainly Celery a try and I liked that, too.  After I prepared the card for club, I thought it would look really good with Pretty in Pink ribbon.  But I figured I should stop somewhere.  Shouldn't I?

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Great Friend.  Card Stock:  whisper white, kraft, soft suede dsp.  Ink:  soft suede, so saffron, certainly celery.  Accessories:  1/2" so saffron striped grosgrain ribbon, 5/8" certainly celery satin ribbon, dimensionals, 1/2 sticky-back pearls (non SU).

Sweet Pea meets Fifth Avenue

I saw this card a couple of days ago here on SCS and loved it!!!  The colors, the images, the layout, ribbon treatment with button ... well everything!  I couldn't wait to make my own.  I'm making samples for 2 upcoming workshops, stamp club and and Stamp-a-Stack, yet I still managed to sneak this project in.  Priorities!

The timing on this card is so good.  The Sweet Pea Designer Paper I used is only available through April 30 and the Stamp Set, Fifth Avenue Floral is on sale through April 30.

Black accents just makes this pop; I don't use it enough.  And stamping directly on designer paper is something I never think to do.  It's a little gutsy because if I mess up the stamping, I can't just flip over the paper.  Well, I can, but the pattern is different.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  Fifth Avenue Floral, Bella's Bloom (sentiment).  Card Stock:  kraft, sweet pea dsp.  Ink:  basic black, versamark.  Accessories:  5/8" basic black grosgrain ribbon, kraft corduroy button, linen thread.

Wonderful You, Melon Mambo

I'm so glad that Melon Mambo is going to be a regular Stampin' Up! color!  I like it so much better than those older, bright pinks (Pixie and Passion).  Anyway, here's a really cute card that I cased from this blog.  It was a lot of fun to make and I got to use one of my newer stamp sets;  For All You Do.

Recipe:  Stamp Sets:  For All You Do, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Card
Stock:  melon mambo, soft suede, regal rose, whisper white.  Ink:  melon mambo, soft suede.  Accessories:  old olive & melon mambo markers, sponge, 1/2" soft suede polka-dot ribbon, dimensionals, brown brad (non SU).  Tools:  curly label punch, scallop border punch.

Stampin' Up! Color Renovations

Great news!  Have you heard?  Stampin' Up! is finally doing a color renovation.  And it's going to be so great.  I'm so excited, but must wait for July.

Here's what's happening:
  • Stamin' Up! is retiring 30 core colors.  This is good fantastic!  The color palette needed updated!  When I open my file cabinets of card stock, I see so many colors that never get used.
There may be a color or two that you just can't live without.  Stock up early and don't forget a reinker (or 2) for your stamp pads.  Although these items are not retiring until June 30, don't wait too late - some items may be while supplies last that last month.
  • 7 former In Colors are returning and will be core colors.  Great choices!  They are:  Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi.
  • 3 current In Colors will become core colors:  Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, and Soft Suede.
  • 5 new colors are being introduced:  Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist.
  • Kraft is being renamed "Crumb Cake".
  • These colors will be organized into 4 collections of 10; 40 core colors instead of the former 48.
  • 5 In Colors will be introduced each year and will last for 2 years.  This will help keep our colors fresh and up-to-date.
Great job Stampin' Up!!!!!!!

Chocolate Easter Bunny

Happy Easter!!

This card is straight out of the Spring Occasions Mini Catalog and it was so fun to make!  One of my friends told me that when she received her card, she had to scratch the bunny because it looks like real chocolate.

I stamped the bunny on Close to Cocoa Card Stock with versamark ink, added clear embossing powder, then heat embossed it.  It looks so good!

The card in the catalog features a bashful blue button.  I experimented with one of 3 different colors; I liked the blue and green better than the pink.  But I still wouldn't have enough for all the cards I wanted to make.  So I punched a flower from bashful blue card stock, stuck a white brad in the center and popped it up.  I think I like this the best, so I finished them off like this.  Here's a picture with all the different buttons.

Recipe:  Stamp Set:  Chocolate Bunny Single Stamp.  Card Stock:  bashful blue, certainly celery, whisper white, close to cocoa.  Ink:  versamark.  Accessories:  clear embossing powder, playground buttons, white embroidery floss, dimensionals, perfect polka-dots embossing folder, little leaves sizzlet, matchbox bigz xl die, 1/2" bashful blue satin ribbon.  Tools:  big shot, heat gun.

New Items Added to the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack

Stampin' Up! just added new items to their clearance rack. There are some great items at great prices!

My favorites:

• Retired Designer Series Paper packs for only $3.99. Some coordinate with retired in-colors and also with current line colors.

• Retired Buttons for only $2.79. I think there are 80 buttons in a pack and they are NOT retired colors; they match current Stampin' Up! card stock and ink colors. Buttons are really popular embellishments right now for cards and scrapbooking. This is a great time to stock up!

There are also ribbons, chipboard and more. Sorry, no stamps.

Because of the limited quantities, clearance rack items can only be ordered through my Stampin' Up! online store.

To shop, go to my blog and click the "Shop Online" shopping bag in the left column.   Click the "Shop Now" Button.  You will see Clearance Rack in a list of departments on the left.  Happy Shopping!
