Circle Circus Thank You

Good Morning and Happy Weekend!
.
Have you noticed that I really like my circle stamps? They are just so versatile. And since they work well with punches, they make it easy to add dimension to a card. It's hard to tell in the photo, but I also raised the rectangular panel on this card. My inspiration came from here. It's clean without being too plain.
.
I hope your weekend is great. Emma is spending the weekend here and can't wait to show me her new swimming skills. She told me that her "head can swim underwater now, too!".

Circle Circus in Curry

Hi!
.
I feel a little better today. Kyle left a few things at home that I really think he needed so we drove to Miami University yesterday. We went to dinner and he took us on a tour of the new Farmer School of Business. WOW - that is an incredible building!
.
I showed you 2 cards from my last Stamp-A-Stack, using the Circle Circus stamp set. While playing with those new stamps, I made a few other cards. Here's another. I found the original here. I don't think I would've put these colors together on my own, but I love the finished card. I think they will make good fall notes.
Even though I've been showing cards from my SAS, I have still be stamping this week. While watching the season finale of Royal Pains last night, I finished another 25 Christmas cards. 50 down, 75 to go!
.
Enjoy your Friday!

I just listed several retired stamp sets on ebay today. Check them out here. I have more to sell, so check back again later.

Happy Stamping!

August Stamp-A-Stack #3

Hello
I had seen a few different topiary cards (with this stamp set, other sets and buttons) and came up with this card. I thought it was a great example of being able to make very different cards using the same stamp set - see yesterday's post. (BTW, my ribbon tabs aren't as uneven as they look in the photo.)
Have a great day.

Big, Quiet and Lonely

Big, Quiet and Lonely.
That descibes our house today. Yesterday we dropped, Kyle, our youngest off at college. We are so excited for him - we know he will do great and be happy. But .... I miss him already!
Tonight and tomorrow are my August Stamp-A-Stacks. I'll be back to show you what we've made.

Last Wow Birthday

Hi.
I couldn't put this stamp set away after making a pink card, then not a masculine one. So, here it is. When I first saw this designer paper, I did not care much for it. Now that I've used it (and it's retired), I love it. It is brighter in person - I think I have too much light in my photos. I also missed the dimension - the circles are popped up. Anyway, I don't think this card is too manly to send to a guy. And I think it's great going into fall. I'll be making more!
Have a happy day!

Wow - This is Girly!

Hello!
When I was playing with this stamp set last week, I saw this card and was reminded how I rarely make 3x6 cards. So here, it is. I guess you could call it a "window" card. I punched the large circle through the card front, then adhered the stamped circle to the inside. When closed, you can see the main image on the inside and outside of the card. I added the scallop circle (window frame) for a more finished look.
Today will be a busy day for me getting my projects ready for my Stamp-A-Stacks Friday and Saturday. I hope your day is great!

You Float My Boat

Hello

Yesterday, I showed you a card I made for a sketch challenge. I actually made two - this is the second one. The boat is the first stamp that popped into my mind to use in this layout. It doesn't show too well in the photo, but I used crystal effects on the windows and portholes to give them "glass glare". I lightly sponged the sky with bashful blue ink., then I free-handed the clouds with Liquid Applique then heated them for a puffy effect.

Thanks for stopping by.

My First Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday.
I have seen where a lot of stampers participate in sketch challenges to get their mojo flowing. You need a starting point to create any masterpiece. But sometimes, there isn't even a vision to start with, so stampers will draw a sketch for everyone to start with. I decided that I wanted to try to play along. A lot of stampers go to this amazing blog for her sketches. I think she posts a new one every Tuesday. Here's the sketch from last week (Aug. 11):

And here's my first attempt at a sketch challenge:

Have a happy week!

Random Thanks with Wow Flowers

Hi there
.
You guessed it - another card with Wow Flowers! Marathon stamping with the same stamp set helps me determine if the set deserves to keep its spot in my cabinets - there are always new sets waiting to fill in any gaps :-) Anyway, Wow Flowers is staying - I hope you like it, too.
.
Although I have no frustrations to pound out, this kind of random stamping can be releasing. Just quick and repetitive tapping. It's nice to occasionally "stamp outside of the box", too. No pattern, letting images overlap and even hang off the edges. Stress relieving and it has a pretty effect. Try it sometime.
.
I found this card here and switched to current colors.
.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Wow Thank You

Hi
I'm back with another "Wow Flowers" card - still trying to take older cards and updating with new colors. This card looks a little like fall to me (I think it's the razzleberry) - but it will be here before we know it.
Have a great day!

Pink or Green?

Hello!
.
I just received an order of new stamp sets which means it's time to try to clean out some old sets that are retired and/or never used. I came across this stamp set "Wow Flowers". It is not retired, but I haven't used it very much. To justify letting it take up cabinet space, I decided to try to make a few cards with it. First I made the pink one that I had found here. I changed the colors from retired to current In-Colors. Even though I LOVE the pink/orange colors, I wanted to try blue/green (I haven't yet bonded with the new Bermuda Bay color). I like the Melon Mambo better, but the Bermuda Bay is still a keeper. What do you think?
.
Stay tuned for more Wow Flowers. See you tomorrow.
Tawnya

More Cheep Talk

Hello!
.
Although, I really liked the Cheep Talk card from yesterday, I LOVE this one. Blue is my favorite color and black accents usually makes any color pop. There really are more than just this one bird stamp in the set! Click on the "cheep talk" label on the left of my block to see one from earlier this summer.
.
I hope your day is spectacular!

Cheep Sunshine

Hi there
.
For a fast and fun card today, I combined the current stamp set "Cheep Talk" with the retired "Good Morning Sunshine" paper. It's so cheery and a little retro. Like I said - fun! Just because I used retired paper, don't think you can't make a similar card - this layout would work with just about any paper.
.
Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Katie - card box

Friday was my daugther's birthday - Katie. For a gift, I gave her a Stampin' Up! "Forget-Me-Not" box filled with a variety of cards I've made. Being a newlywed, I thought she would enjoy having a supply of handmade greeting cards. Katie appreciates the time, talent and love that goes into handmade projects. However, she is very independent and would prefer to make them herself (which I understand). Hopefully, this box will do until she is able to build her own stash.

Colorful Trio

Hello and Happy Weekend!
.
I'm pleased with how this card turned out. It has a lot of texture and a lot of color without being bold. I CASED this one, and added one of my new polka dot ribbons to go along with the emobssing.
.
As much as I hate to do this, I'm going to put my Trendy Trees stamp set away for awhile and pull out another to play with. Before I can even do that, I need to plan the cards for my next Stamp-A-Stack coming up on August 22.
.
Have a terrific weekend. See you Monday (hopefully).

Trendy Trio

Hello!
.
We've had so much rain lately that this card reminded me of our yard; very green! I'm not complaining, though -it looks beautiful. Besides - the sun is shining now and Jeff will have some time off-call today.
.
I think this is just the cutest little stamp set. It makes great summer and fall cards. I'll show you a few more in the next few days.
.
Have a fabulous day!

Wedding Cash Card

When blog surfing one day, I stopped here and saw this money card. It is so pretty. I added a touch of glitter to the bride's bouquet and flowers in her veil. It's a tri-fold white card matted on sahara sand. I made it to fit in one of the SU envelopes (apprx 3" x 6"). With other stamps, it would be a great money holder for any occasion.
.
I guess if you wanted to write a check for mailing, you could eliminate the circle from the bottom panel. Speaking of the "window", the new cash that has the president off-center is very annoying to right brained people trying to be creative.
Have a good day!

Happy Birthday, Jeff!

Hi there!

Sunday was my wonderful husband's birthday. This is the card I made for him. Pretty cool, huh?! Before you think that me giving him a card with a lawn mower on it would be like him giving me a card with a vacuum cleaner on it - it's not the same! The difference is that he actually enjoys mowing. He has had the same red Troybilt for so long that the tread is worn off the tires - they are smooth.

Have a wonderful day!

Still Going in Circles

OK, I will take a break from this lay-out. They're just so fun to make!
.
On these 2 cards, the dark circles are "chocolate chip" card stock - I have a difficult time getting good close-up photos of white cards. IRL, the strawberry chocolate is lighter. I colored the tip of the strawberry with a marker and covered it with crystal effects, so it looks like it was dipped in chocolate. Yum!
.
I'll be back tomorrow with Jeff's birthday card. (Hint: it has no circles).
.
Have a fabulous week!

More Circle Punch Cards

Hello!

I recently showed you these cards from my last Stamp-A-Stack. I originally found them here. I made a few more using this same layout. The more I make, the more I love them. With all the white background, they look so fresh and summery. I seem to go from one extreme to another - very clean and simple (CAS) to very detailed. This layout is just so fun to work with.

Have a fabulous weekend. I'll be back Monday with more cards to share.
