Just B ... going

Hello!
.
I didn't mean for my title to sound snarky (I'm using your word - Kyle). It means that the "Just B" stamp set is going away for good today. I hadn't used this set for awhile so I pulled it out today and whipped these up very quickly. It's a fun stamp set - there's the large B (I thought it was for Bonnell), a bee, flower and several words; cuz, fabulous, happy, for birthday, for baby, yourself.
.
The new catalog starts tomorrow. Email if you would like your own copy.
.
Have a great evening!

Not So Girly Birthday Candles

Happy Monday!
.
The "Big Birthday Candle" card I showed yesterday was pretty girly with all the pink. I think this could be given to a guy. Of course, the pink one took longer to get ready :0) For today's card, I used another retiring set for the sentiment: "Hugs & Wishes". It's a useful greeting set with this birthday stamp, plus congratulations, anniversary, warm wishes and invitation all in different fonts.
.
Have a fabulous week!

Girly Birthday Candles

Is anyone melting yet? I can remember people saying that they like living in the midwest because we have 4 seasons. What happed with that? Now it seems like we go back and forth between summer and winter. Jeff had 1/2 day off work yesterday. We had a few things to do, but we did manage to sneak in some time to float in the pool. So relaxing! Normally, if I swim in the day, I crash in the evening. Last night I forced myself to stamp. I'm so glad I did - once I made it to my stamp area, I had so much fun!
.
I finally made 2 cards using the retiring stamp set "Big Birthday Candle". Remember, I like birthday cards to be festive (not just any card with a birthday sentiment stamped on it). These candles are great! I don't think the photo shows the top pink layer and orange candle are raised up, the saffron scallops are pierced and there's glitter around the edges of the flames.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Big Birthday Candle
Card Stock: whisper white, pink pirouette, so saffron, pumpkin pie
Ink: basic gray, kiwi kiss, pumpkin pie
Accessories: so saffron marker, diamond stickles (non SU), kiwi kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, glue dot

Have a wonderful Sunday!

The End of Seeing Spots

Happy Birthday, Erica! It would be so much easier for me to quit having birthdays if my kids would quit also :0)

This is a new card with the retiring Stamp Set "Seeing Spots". The little bitty circles and the large one in the center are all popped up with dimensionals. The designer paper (polka dots) is textured, so in real life there is a really fun feel and lots of depth to this card.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Seeing Spots
Card Stock: chocolate chip, whisper white, parisian breeze specialty paper
Ink: chocolate chip, baja breeze
Accessories: dimensionals, kraft taffeta ribbon
Punches: 1/2" and 1-1/4" circles

Have a fabulous weekend!

Seeing Spots

For those of you that have been wondering, Dad's surgery went very well yesterday. He felt very little surgery pain (could have something to do with the morphine button) and his previous hip pain is gone. They will get him up today. Thank you for your concern and prayers.

Since I spent most of the day at the hospital yesterday, I am showing 2 cards that I made last summer when I first got this stamp set. The two things I like most about Seeing Spots is it makes great backgrounds (see this post) and the stamps are perfect for using circle punches - making it easy to add dimension to cards or scrapbook pages. Yes, Seeing Spots is retiring in just 5 short days.

In each of these cards, I hand-cut the flower and raised it up with dimensionals.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Seeing Spots

Cardstock: brocade blue, basic black, whisper white

Ink: basic black, brocade blue

Accessories: black brad, ribbon (non SU), black brad

Wild About This Stamp Set!

This is another one of the stamp sets that I love but haven't given enough attention to. I was so sad to see it on the Last Chance List. I have shown it before on my blog. You can see that post if you look over to the right in the list of labels. Click on "Wild About You".
.
I hope you enjoy these cards as much as I do! For this first card, I stamped the lion 3 times; once on the white panel, and twice more on scrap. I cut the main and head out of the scraps and raised them up. I also popped up the bird's wing. It is so cute in real life.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Wild About You
Card Stock: whisper white, really rust, more mustard, old olive
Ink: more mustard, really rust, old olive
Accessories: dimensionals, old olive 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, more mustard 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, rust brads (from multi-pack from Michael's)
Tools: paper piercer and mat pack (to line up brads)

Not only does this second card showcase an awesome stamp set, it also demonstrates a filmstrip layout. Isn't it fun?! Again, I raised the lion's main (just one extra layer this time).
.

Miami Merger Renewed

What is a Miami Merger? It's been defined a couple of different ways, but basically it's when 2 Miami University Students marry. Jeff and I met at Miami (at a picnic the day before my Freshman year) and even got married in the chapel on campus - we definitely qualify as a Miami Merger.

So, while on campus Saturday, we renewed our wedding vows. It was an intimate ceremony... Just us ... and 1086 other couples.
The vow renewal was actually a planned event for Alumni Weekend. It was an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most couples to simultaneously renew their wedding vows. The previous record was 624 and yesterday's unoffical count is 1087.
It was fun and sounds kind of silly, but when it came time to actually say the vows, it was real. I am so blessed!

The "ceremony" was held in front of Upham Hall. The building has a large archway. Legend has it that if sweethearts kiss under the arches, they will wed. Yes, we did it over 25 years ago. Several times - you never can be too certain of such things. And then one more smooch for old times sake.

Love You and Farewell

I'm ending my focus on "Happy Heart Day" with this very quick and easy card that I found in the catalog. The retirement date is drawing near! But I still have time to work with a few more sets and make samples to share.

Unforgettable Elephant

One more card with the "Happy Heart Day" elephant. I was inspired by this card. I love the these colors together - I'm sad to see Baja Breeze retiring in just 12 more days. And how sweet is the stamp? I think this card is going in my "make more" stack.
.
See the cut-out butterfly? That's from the stamp set "Flight of the Butterfly". I'm happy to share that, beginning July 1, Stampin' Up! will be offering a butterfly punch designed to punch that stamp.
.
Enjoy your day!

The Mouse is Back

Who wouldn't smile when receiving this card? I inked the mouse/heart stamp with my marker to avoid stamping the "happy heart day" sentiment that's included on it. That way this card makes a cute 'thank you' to someone special.
.
Yay - it looks like it will be another hot & sunny day. My grandson is hanging out with me for a few days. It's still true that 2 hours of swimming wears out a three year old :0)
.
Have a terrific day!

Happy Heart Day # 3

This is the third card using the stamp set Happy Heart Day. I said earlier that it's shown with the Valentine Sets but it could be used for other occasions. This is one example.

I'll be back tomorrow with more.

Pretty in Pink

This is another card using the retiring stamp set "Happy Heart Day". I think this little elephant is so cute! I stamped her twice; once on white and again on pink polka dot. I cut out the pink and layered it over the white image. I did the same with the butterfly. If you look closely, you can see that I embossed the large pink layer with blocked hearts. When I looked at the end result, I wished I had masked off the "to an unforgettable friend" part of the stamp. Next time - I think this stamp set is staying in my collection.

Have a super day!

A Happy Heart Mouse

Happy Monday!
.
I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was nice. Busy, but nice. It was cold & rainy for Kyle's college orientation, but beautiful for his open house. I am thankful that the one nice day all week was when we needed it.
.
Graduations and jury duty are over and I couldn't wait to head to my stamping area yesterday. I decided to work (play) with another retiring stamp set called "Happy Heart Day". It's found in the Valentine section of the catalog, but I think it can be used much more than that. However, the card I'm showing today actually is the card I sent for Valentine's Day this year. I'll be showing you more samples with this same set throughout the week.

Have a great week!

Wrapping Up "Say It With Scallops"

Happy Weekend!

Ok, have I made you tired of "Say It With Scallops" or convinced you that it's a great set? Or both :0) This is the last card (maybe). This set of cards appealed to me and I just had to CASE. Again, they are clean and simple, but so pretty.

Enjoy your day!

More Scalloped "Congrats"

Hello!

The square scallop punch is often used with this stamp set. The circles make this one a little unique. Also, I don't use orange very often. I like it, I just tend to reach past it.

I hope you have a happy day!

Say It With Scallops - "Hi"

Hi.

I'm back with the retiring "Say It With Scallops" stamp set. There are 4 stamps in this set. I have to admit, I haven't used the "for you" stamp, but I use the other three quite a bit. I like that they are decorative and also the sentiment - making them very versatile for clean and simple cards. I love the simpleness (is that a word?) of this card. I hope you like it, too.
Have a terrific day!

Starry Congrats

Happy Wednesay! We're halfway to the weekend!

"Say It With Scallops" is another great stamp set that is retiring June 30. It's a Ronald McDonald Set; for each set sold Stampin' Up! donates $2 to the Ronald McDonald house. I really like these stamps so I will be holding on to them for awhile. If you scroll down my list of "labels" over on the right, you can see that I've posted several other cards using this same stamp set. I made this card for an Eagle Scout Court of Honor.

Have a great day!

Totally Tool Faux Wood

Hello
This is such an extremely busy time for me that I haven't had time to stamp. Sad, but true. I started this card nearly a week ago and finally took its picture today. I'm normally not into trying new stamping techniques, but I really liked the faux wood look with the Totally Tool stamp set. So I watched a video I found here and gave it a try. It wasn't difficut at all. Wood grain, screwhead brads and tool stamps - does a card get any manlier than this? Great for Father's Day.

Thanks for stopping by!

Something To Be Proud Of

Yesterday was "Graduation Sunday" at our church. All three of our kids graduated this year (ok, Kyle's actual commencement is this evening) and they were all at the service in caps and gowns. How cool is that!?

Last of Life's a Breeze

Sometimes I think the little touches make the biggest differences; the speckled background stamp to resemble grains of sand, the torn layers of blue paper for water and the texture for the top blue layer. None of them stand out that much on their own but together they give this card a tranquil beach feel. Tranquil? What's that?
It looks like we're in for another beautiful weekend. I bought flowers for the pool area yesterday. I think Emma will be helping me plant. Fun!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Saffron Summer

This card appealed to me the other day. It think it's nice to have blank seasonal cards on hand. Life's a Breeze is a great summertime stamp set. (BTW, It's not the card that's crooked - it's me.)

Life's a Breeze - Dark Side

Sent home again. I had to report to jury duty today and once again was not chosen to serve. I really don't mind serving - I understand about civic duty etc., etc. But it is a little frustrating to spend 1/2 day for nothing. I'm glad to be excused today, though, because it's sunny and I'm home for Jeff's day off.
Continuing with the Life's a Breeze stamp set. So what do you think? Do you like the bold, dark colors of this card of the softer colors on the last one? Very different looks!

Roller Coasters

Not the kind at amusement parks. Have you ever spent the day on an emotional roller coaster? Yesterday was an one for me. Extreme joy and sadness all in one day.
Yesterday was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. That's the joy part. The stamp set I'm featuring right now is Life's a Breeze. Very befitting because that describes being married to my husband - a breeze. He is so strong, supportive, sweet and wonderful in every way. He's at work now and just thinking about him makes me smile and warms my heart. God certainly blessed me with him!
Yesterday, a very wonderful person from our church died in a car accident. I've had the privilege of serving with him and can testify to the Kingdom work that he did on a daily basis. Truly an amazing spirit that will be missed by so many. There's comfort in knowing that he now lives with Jesus. When I sat down at my computer this morning I did not feel like blogging. Then I remembered Tom telling me that he and his wife never threw away a card that I sent them. After being displayed, they had their own place on the bookshelf to be saved.... So, today I blog.

I chose a card this morning that is light and cheery but at the same time is kind of serene and relaxing. Both stamp sets used are retiring June 30.

Something's Fishy

Hello
Wow - I went over the Stampin' Up! "Last Chance" list and found 25 stamp sets that I already own. So I decided to feature some of those before they're gone and before I get tempted by new stamps coming out in July. I only made one of this card and now may want to make a few more. It's a good guy card and they aren't always the easiest to make.
Enjoy your day!

Going, going, ...

Well, either the prosecutor or defense attorney didn't like me because they excused me. Although I am perfectly willing to serve, I was itching to see the "last chance" lists and a sneak peek at new products.
Last chance to purchase these times is June 30.

The retired accessories are available while supplies last. Many of the items are 25-50% off and will sell quickly. The list is updated daily. I can not link this list on the SU! site. I've tried to copy and paste the table to my blog, but the formatting doesn't carry over. I have saved this list in a Word document. If you would like a copy, just send me an email. If you want daily updates, let me know that too.

Thanks!

Tawnya

Bella Star

Good Morning and Happy June!

Sorry I didn't post this weekend. I actually helped with yard work; trimmed lots of bushes. Those of you that know me - you can stop laughing now.

I used some of my favorite Designer Series Paper in this card - Bella Rose. It will be retiring June 30. Speaking of retiring; Stampin' Up! is publishing the "last chance" list today, listing stamp sets and accessories that will retire June 30. A new catalog begins July 1. When I get home from jury duty today, I will try to link the list on my blog.

Have a terrific day!
