Birthdays for Boys

In the spring, I need several birthday cards for little boys (3 & 4 year olds). I wanted something besides my favorite pink cupcakes. When I think of little boys, I gravitate towards primary colors, but they are not easy for me to work with. You may need to wear sunglasses to view this card, but I am still pleased with the way it turned out.
Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Nursery Necessities, Birthday Whimsy, Starring You
Cardstock: summer sun, whisper white, real red, ballet blue
Ink: ballet blue, summer sun, real red, basic gray
Accessories: dimensionals, white gel pen
Tools: paper piercing tools, large star punch.
Have a great Thursday!

Adult Congrats

I needed a couple of congratulation cards for adults. They needed to be patted on the back for hard work and great accomplishments, but streamers and marching bands were not quite appropriate. Know what I mean? When searching, I thought this card would do the trick. I love it - a slightly understated bravo!

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Say it With Scallops, Starring You
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: baja breeze, riding hood red, old olive marker
Accessories: 5/8" chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals
Punches: scallop square, scallop edge, wide oval, 1/2" circle

My card stash is growing. Let me know if you need any.
Have a great day!

Manly Birthday Card

I love making birthday cards, but sometimes it's a challenge to come up with masculine cards. This card caught my eye as a potential. Ok, so maybe balloons aren't manly, but the colors are. Although this card was simple to make, there's a lot of assembly. It's a great one to cut and stamp during they day then scissor-cut and assemble at night while watching tv. The balloons and greeting are popped up.
Thanks for visiting.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Crazy for Cupcakes, Bitty Brithday
Cardstock: pacific point, basic black, whisper white, black/white gingham paper (Michael's)

Accessories: dimensionals, black brads

Hip-hippo-ray!

Isn't she just the cutest little hippo?! This stamp is from the set Pun Fun that I've shown before. The card fits for congratulations as well as birthday. Multi-tasking - gotta love it! I think one thing that attracted me to this card is I love red and khaki together as well as black accents. Plus, like I said, she's so cute.
I watercolored the hippo with my aquapainter and reinkers. I stamped the balloons, cut them out and popped them up for dimension on the card. The balloon strings are slivers of black cardstock.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I have. I made a few extras if you need one.
Have a great day!

Punched Purse for Mom

Happy Saturday!

I've seen these little punched purses a few times and couldn't wait to try one on my own. I thought a Mother's Day card would be a great opportunity. What a fun card to make!

Ink: basic gray

Mother's Pizazz

I'm back with another Mother's Day card to share. My son, Kyle, said it's too pink. Too pink? For Mother's Day?? That's ok - I like it and I hope you do, too. Mother's Day weekend is traditionally when it's safe to plant flowers without fear of overnight frosts. That's probably one reason I like to use flower stamp sets for Mother's Day. This card is much prettier in real life, the dimensions and layers of the flower don't show in the photo.

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Petal Pizazz, Polka Dot Background, All Holidays

Cardstock: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White

Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive

Accessories: pink brad, dimensionals

It's a pretty, springy, and feminine card - the greeting can be changed to use it for other occasions. Here's where my idea came from. I made a couple of extras for Mother's Day. Let me know if you need one.
I hope your day is going great!

CADV Card Donation

Good Morning!
Citizens Against Domestic Violence is holding their annual scholarship luncheon this coming Sunday (4/26/09). The founders of the Ohio organization are members of my church and the most amazing and inspirational people. They turned a horrific personal tragedy into a mission. Please visit their website. My daughter, Katie, is a senior at Miami University and was the recipient of the continuing college student scholarship last year. She is pursuing a major in Sociology and a minor in Criminology.

Anyway, gift baskets are raffled at the luncheon and Elsa Croucher asked me to contribute cards. I was flattered. I contributed a total of 36 different cards. So that they could be viewed without getting messed up or separated from their envelopes, I packaged them in clear envelopes, then sorted them into Mini Magazine File Boxes that I also made. I just love these little boxes!

While I was waiting for these photos to download, I received an email that Elsa will be featured on Channel 12 news (Cincinnati) at 11:00 on Monday, April 27. Check it out.

Have sunny day!

Baroque Mother's Day

Good Morning!

I made this card rather quickly and late last night. I liked it, but didn't love it. I left in on the coffee table and then on the counter this morning. It's growing on me (no pun intended) but I may still do some tweeking.

I love the font of the "Happy Mother's Day" stamp. It's from the stamp set All Holidays, which is very versatile.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: All Holidays, Baroque Motifs
Cardstock: whisper white, old olive, pretty in pink, georgia peach dsp
Ink: old olive
Accessories: pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, silver brad, dimensional
Tools: boho blossoms punch, paper piercing tools

Email me if you want hand-made Mother's Day cards.

Have happy day!

Celebrate Everything & Anything

Are we having the strangest weather or what? Even for Ohio! Every few minutes, I look out the window and it has changed from sunny to rain then back again. And what's with 38 degree nights? Oh well, on to fun stuff ...

This card can be used for so many things. The colors make it an acceptable guy card, don' t you think? We're almost in graduation season - this would be a fun card - the spiral punch gives it the notebook paper look without being too juvenile. Use the school colors to help personalize the card.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Celebrate Everything
Cardstock: basic black, whisper white, brushed silver, bashful blue, bashful blue dsp
ink: Stazon-On Black
Accessories: staple, silver brad, dimensionals
Tools: crimper, large star punch, small star punch, round tab punch, spiral punch

All supplies to make this card can be ordered here. Or email me if you want me to do it for you.

Have a great day and think spring!

Wrapping Up the Thank Yous

Here are the last 2 thank you card samples I made up last week. That's a total of 8. What's your favorite?
I love this first card. I think it may be my favorite. The white open space is clean without being stark. It's a very simple design. Keeping the paper pierced "box" straight was a bit of a challenge, so I'm kind of glad it wasn't Erica's first choice.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Thank You Kindly
Cardstock: baja breeze, pink pirouette, kiwi kiss, whisper white
Ink: baja breeze
Accessories: silver brads, dimensionals, baja breeze striped grosgrain ribbon
Tools: Mat Pack and paper piercer, 3 flower punch

And the winner is ...

I saw a card like this on a display board at Archiver's. I wanted to copy it with my Stampin' Up! supplies, so I took a picture with my cell phone. A wonder in itself. I remembered to save the picture. Then a week later, I was actually able to retrieve the picture from my phone. 3 wonders! The white dots are done by hand with my white gel pen.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Thank You Kindly
Cardstock: kiwi kiss, baja breeze, rose red, pumpkin pie
Ink: basic gray
Accessories: white gel pen, sticky gems (Hobby Lobby, Michael's or Archiver's), dimensionals
Tool: 1-1/4" circle punch

Have a happy Monday!

More Thanks

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. We sure did! Jeff was off work (yippee). Erica & Greg had perfect weather for their party. We got to spend time with the grandkids. Will came for a sleepover. Church was awesome. Unfortunately, Emma is sick - only bummer of the weekend. Poor little princess!

Ok, so while I'm on a roll, I will just continue with the thank you cards. You can never have too much gratitude, right?

I love this firt card. Maybe because I'm a blue person. The green medallion is popped up - I wished the picture showed that better. For some reason, I usually stamp on white cardstock - that's something that makes this card a little different.

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Baroque Motifs, Thank You Kindly

Cardstock: baja breeze, pacific point, kiwi kiss, whisper white

Ink: pacific point, kiwi kiss

Accessories: blue brad, dimensionals

Tools: circle scallop punch, scallop edge punch

You want to talk about quick and easy - this card is it. Yet, it is so cute and cheery!

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Thank You Kindly

Cardstock: sahara sand, whisper white, pumpkin pie dsp, old olive dsp, rose red dsp

Ink: Old Olive

Accessories: Brads, Flower Fusion

Tomorrow starts a new week. I hope yours is fabulous!

Thanks again

I had made sample thank you cards for Erica. Yesterday I showed you the two she rejected. She liked both of these two cards.

I really like this one - it's young, not futzy and easy (remember, I need to mass produce).

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Say it with Scallops

Cardstock: kraft, riding hood red, bashful blue dsp

Ink: Riding Hood Red

Accessories: riding hood striped ribbon, dimensionals

Tools: paper piercing tools, square scallop punch.

I like this one, too. Adding black matting usually sets off a color and makes a card more striking. Can you see the texture in the saffon cardstock?

Recipe:

Stamp Set: Say it with Scallops

Cardstock: basic black, whisper white, so saffron

Ink: basic black

Accessories: 1/4" black grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, black brads

Tools: cuttlebug swiss dot embossing folder, Big Shot, square scallop punch.

I was all excited to make these cards yesterday. Even though I'm volunteering, it feels like I'm filling an order. So, I went to my craft area and instead of making these, I started playing around and came up with 4 more samples. Now she has changed her mind to a new favorite. You'll see it soon. On a good note, if you are looking for Thank You cards, there will be plenty to see on my blog.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thank You Samples

Erica (my eldest) graduates from nursing school tonight. Last night was the pinning ceremony. Saturday they are having a party to celebrate her graduation, Emma's birthday and their housewarming. I figured she would need thank you cards so I offered to make them. These two were rejected. I still like them and the supplies are still out in my craft area, so I may just make a few for my stash. You may notice that they are rather simple - helpful when mass producing at last minute!
This first sample I found on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website.

Recipe:
Stamp: Elegant Thank You
Cardstock: basic black, pink pirouette, raspberry tart dsp, whisper white.
Ink: craft black, pink pirouette
Accessories: 1/4" black grosgrain ribbon, gold brads, dimensionals, clear embossing powder
Tools: heat gun, square scallop punch, sponge

I'm not super crazy about this next one, but I do like that it's clean and simple (CAS). I gave it a try because yellow is Erica's favorite color. I first saw it here.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Say It With Scallops
Cardstock: so saffron, so saffron dsp, whisper white
Ink: so saffron, brocade blue
Accessories: 5/8" so saffron grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals
Tools: square scallop punch, mat pack (for paper piercing)

All supplies are Stampin' Up!. To place an order, click here.

I'll be back later with the "winning" cards.

Have a terrific day. Enjoy the sunshine - I am!

Happy Birthday, Jo!

Today is my friend's birthday. She's an awesome stamper and a special person, so I just had to come up with a great card. I think I did. It's cheery, fun, girly and has lots of details.

I used my Scor-Pal to score the pink layer on both diagonals and my nestibilities for the scalloped rectangles. And of course, there's glitter on the icing. The little black dots are done by hand. Remember when I told you about the cute little stamps for accents in the ABC Images set? Well, that's where I found the little cupcake.

Have a great day, Jo!

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Crazy for Cupcakes, ABC Images (inside & envelope), Sweet Little Sentiments (inside), Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Black Staz-On, Pretty in Pink reinker, Pumpkin Pie & Basic Black Markers, Ruby Red.
Accessories: dimensionals, pumpkin pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, pink gingham ribbon, blue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, copic marker.
Tools: Scor-Pal, nestibilities, Big Shot, large oval punch, small oval punch, blender pen
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day. Yay - we have sunshine!

More Pun Fun

Good Morning!

Yesterday I told you that I've found some really cute cards made with the Pun Fun stamp set. Here's another one. I don't often work with these colors, but I just love this card. Even though it doesn't say Happy Birthday, I think it will work. Young and fun! The planet is popped up and really looks like it's out in space.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Pun Fun
Cardstock: brilliant blue, green galore, basic black, whisper white, bashful blue, pumpkin pie, summer sun.
Ink: Staz-On black
Accessories: water-color pencils, blender pen, dimensionals, rhinestone brad
Punches: small and large oval, small star, 1-3/8" circle

Get Whale Soon!

Hello!

I used to think the Pun Fun stamp set was corny. But the more I saw cards like this one, the more I liked the set. I really do use it a lot - it's fun for all ages. I've made several cards with it now and will be sharing more with you. The stamps come with the sentiment directly below each picture. For more versatility, I double-mounted each stamp. I cut the sentiment away from the picture and mounted in separately on one flat side of the wood block.

I like this card because it is cheery - after all get well cards shouldn't be gloomy. I think it is gender-neutral. And it covers illness as well as surgeries. I made up several; that way I can get one in the mail quickly if needed. My ABC Images stamp set has a perfect little companion whale stamp that I used on the inside and the envelope.

Here's hoping you are well. Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Emma

Good Morning!

Today is my sweet little granddaughter's 6th birthday. We call her Princess and treat her like one, too. So I planned to make her a princess themed card, but then I saw this. Emma loves giraffes so I had to make it for her. When she came to visit this weekend, she saw the giraffe stamped on my scrap paper and wanted to play with this stamp set. She's getting pretty good!

Stamp Sets: Wild About You, Birthday Whimsy, Party Hearty

Happy Easter

I know it's late in the day and Easter is almost past. I hope each of you enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating our risen Lord and the new life He has given each of us. To hear a great message, click on the link to my church over on the right side of this page.

This is the Easter card I sent to friends and family. It was so fun to make! When I edited the photo, the scalloped edge on the left turned from lavender to blue. IRL, it is lavender and matches the striped paper really well.

Recipe:

Stamp Set: A Good Egg
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Lavender Lace, Whisper White, Pixie Pink
Paper: Certainly Celery dsp and non SU dsp
Accessories: bright green pindot ribbon (Michael's), glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, dimensionals, copic markers
Tools: Big Shot, nestabilities, scallop edge punch.

Tomorrow starts a new week. I hope yours is great!

Dying Easter Eggs

Emma and Will wanted to dye their Easter Eggs are our house again this year. Will couldn't stand to just leave his soak in the dye. He kept sticking the dipper in the cup to check them. I started to understand why this was an activity for Gram and Poppy's house. Emma was very patient to let her eggs sit and get dark. When Will left, she got to add glitter to hers. Where does that girl get her love for bling?

Have a great weekend!

Stamp Club Day

Once a month, I get together with my mom and 2 friends to stamp. We each bring a card to share and all of the materials for everyone to make 4 cards. We each leave with 16 completed cards. We've been doing this for nearly 7 years and have come to look forward from one "Stamp Club" day to the next. We stamp a lot and chat a little ... or is it we stamp a little and chat a lot? In either case, the days are fun and therapeutic. Today was Stamp Club day!

Here's the card I shared today and here is where I found it. It doesn't really show in the picture, but I stamped the boots twice, once on the card, then again on scrap cardstock. I cut the second pair out and popped them up over the first pair to add dimension to the card.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Flower Filled (retired) and Sweet Little Sentiments (hostess)
Cardstock: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Old Olive and Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red, Old Olive, Regal Rose
Accessories: Brads (from Michael's & Hobby Lobby), Regal Rose 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, olive gingham ribbon (Michael's), dimensionals
Tools: 1/2" circle punch, slot punch

To Have and To Hold

Happy Good Friday!

Easter is almost here. What better time to share a card I made for a couple beginning a new life together? My cousin's son is getting married soon. This is the card I made for them. As soon as I opened the invitation, I knew that I would be making a trip to Archiver's. They carry a shimmery cardstock that is a great match to the invitation and envelopes. I love the way the card turned out, but I have really struggled to get a good picture. Trust me - it is much prettier in real life. After I ran the white cardstock through my Big Shot, I cut a window in it. And don't stamped wedding dresses need glitter? I was inspired by this card.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: To Have and To Hold
Cardstock: metallic bronze and blue (non SU), whisper white
Ink: black Staz-On, brocade blue (inside of card)
Accessories: white organdy ribbon, glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, copic markers, dimensionals
Tools: cuttle bug embossing folder, big shot, craft knife

Like this card and want to make one like it? Shop here 24/7 or contact me.

It's time to head to the store and buy some eggs to boil. Emma and Will are coming to dye them this afternoon. Good thing I didn't do any cleaning yesterday. Kyle says that cleaning the house before they come is like washing a car in the rain.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday, Greg!

Today is my son-in-law's birthday. He's a great son-in-law, wonderful husband and awesome father. Our family has been blessed. Here's the card we sent him. Some people always use trees and other nature stamps and colors for masculine cards. But I like all birthday cards to be festive. Combining manly and festive can be a challenge, but I think this card accomplishes that, especially with screwhead brads.

Recipe:
Stamp Set: Party Hearty
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Ink: Old Olive, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: screwhead brads (from Michael's), dimensionals
Tools: small star punch, 5/8" circle punch, paper crimper

Materials can be purchased here. Have questions or want your cards premade? Ask me.

Thanks for visiting.
Have a great day!

Early to Rise

Good Morning.

Today was my first Grandparents' Breakfast at Emma's school. Since the breakfast was before school and it's a 1/2 hour drive, I was out the door bright and early (especially for me). It was well worth it, though. Emma was so excited and sweet. I love watching her friends greet and hug her. It was definitely the most I ever enjoyed cold eggs and warm milk!

Super Cute Baby Cards

Welcome to my blog and to my first post. Since I just signed up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I thought it would be fun to start a blog.

I just received a baby announcement from a friend. Little Molly is adorable and deserves an adorable card! I pulled a pink "onsie" card from my stash. I CASEd the card from here. You can't tell in the photo, but I scored the front at 1/2" up from the bottom to look like the seam. I added a small strip of white cardstock behind that to hide the backs of the brads.

All materials are Stampin' Up! unless noted otherwise.
Recipe:
Stamps: Nursery Necessities and Polka Dot Background
Cardstock: Pixie Pink, Ballet Blue and Whisper White
Ink: Craft White, Pixie Pink, Ballet Blue and Staz-On Black Stamp Pads. Pink Passion and Basic Black markers (accents on elephant)
Accessories: Button Brads (from Target), Dimensionals
Punches: Large Star, 1-3/8" Circle, 1-3/4" Circle (for boy), Scallop Circle (for girl)
If you want to make these cards, click here to shop 24/7 or send me an email.
