Quilted Thinking of You

I have seen several quilted top-note cards and finally tried it myself. As expected, it's easy. But I was surprised at how fast they were to make. I made 6 in less than an hour (that includes getting stuff out and cleaning up, too). Definitely fun to make! Just about any designer paper pack would work. It's great that each pack has 12 different patterns that all coordinate with each other and with Stampin' Up! card stock.
To make this card, I cut (12) 1-1/4" squares and adhered them to a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of scrap card stock. I ran that patch work piece through the Big Shot with my Top Note Die. Once it was cut out, I wanted to give it a quilted texture, so I ran it back through the Big Shot; this time using the argyle cuttlebug embossing folder. I wish you could see and feel it in person - much better than the photo. Thinking ahead to true quilt season, wouldn't this card be cute with Christmas papers?!

Have a great day.

Triple Hearts with In-Colors

I just saw this card last week and loved it. That was before I knew the deal of the week is the Heart-to-Heart Punch (from $15.95 to $10.99 though 7/31/09). So what a perfect time to share it with you.
I popped up the largest and smallest hearts over the stamped word "heart". For continuity and a splash of color, I adhered the medium heart to the inside panel. This card took me all of 5 minutes to make.
I've also been dipping into the new in-colors. I used 3 of them on this card; Soft Suede, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. I wasn't crazy about them when I first saw them. Now that I've made several cards with them, I love them! Trusting Stampin' Up!, I figured that would happen.
I did so much stamping last week and weekend, that I had enough samples ready to share with you for this whole week. So for the past 3 days, I have been working on my Christmas cards and I just finished the first 25 last night! Yippee! Just 125 to go.
Have a great day!
Recipe: Stamp Set: Heard from the Heart. Card Stock: soft suede, crushed curry, melon mambo, whisper white. Ink: melon mambo. Accessories: melon mambo polka dot grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals. Punch: heart-to-heart.

Masculine Star

This is the other card that I put together for our little stamp club Saturday. One of my friends had hinted that she could use some masculine cards. I was happy to oblige and I pulled out this sample to borrow.
Have a super day!

Baja Butterfly

Hi there!
Saturday was our monthly friends stamping gathering. The one where 4 of us each bring a card for everyone to make and we rotate homes. This is the card I prepared. Actually it's one of the cards - we're only supposed to take one, but sometimes I just can't help myself and I make two (I'll show you the other one tomorrow). I found this and CASEd it several months ago but have been saving it. The second (newer) photo is a little different because now I have the butterfly punch and I added cattails punched with the slot punch. There are no color differences - just lighting and camera flash.
I hope your day is a fun one!

Recipe: Stamp Sets: Flight of the Butterfly, Inspired by Nature. Card Stock: whisper white, baja breeze, chocolate chip. Ink: kiwi kiss, baja breeze. Accessories: 1" stitched baja breeze grosgrain ribbon, large silver brads (Michael's), dimensionals. Tools: butterfly punch, slot punch, Japanese hole punch (non SU)

These are the last cards from the July Stamp-A-Stack. They are very fast, easy and fun to make. And great for summer. I think they would be nice for Thank You notes for Emma's VBS teachers.
It's the weekend. Yay! I have friends coming over for our monthly stamping/therapy session this morning. What a great start! Then Jeff will be off work this weekend - just gets better.
I hope yours is wonderful.

Garden Greetings Get Well

For my Stamp-A-Stack, I prepared 2 different cards with each stamp set. This is the second card with the Garden Greetings Stamp Set. IRL, the stickles in the flower centers add "wow" to the card. It's a fun and unusual layout that I found in the 2008-2009 SU Idea Book & Catalog.
Recipe: Stamp Set: Garden Greeting. Card Stock: old olive, brocade blue, whisper white, old olive dsp. Ink: old olive, brocade blue, bordering blue. Accessories: old olive striped grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals, icicle stickles. Tools: large oval punch, scallop oval punch, nestabilities, big shot.

Garden Greetings Thank You

What a lovely rainy day. Seriously. Although I love sunshine, this is a nice & steady rain that we really need. When I finish my chores, we won't be able to swim so I guess I will just have to stamp. Yay!
This is one the cards we made at my Stamp-A-Stack. I CASEd it from here and loved the unusual color combination.
Recipe: Stamp Set: Garden Greetings. Card Stock: so saffron, whisper white, pumpkin pie, pink passion, chocolate chip. Ink: pink passion, so saffon, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip. Accessories: chocolate chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals. Punches: small oval, large oval, scallop oval.

Big Shot Favors

I held my first Stamp-A-Stack this past Saturday at my home. These are the favors I made for my guests. I used my Big Shot and matchbox die. The chocolates (required for any good stamping session) are wrapped in the new Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper. The boxes were much easier to make than I expected. The acetate can be a little stubborn to work with, but ... I won!
Have a great day!
Recipe: Stamp Set: Lovely Labels (retired). Cardstock: rich razzleberry, crushed curry, melon mambo, razzleberry lemonade dsp, acetate. Ink: rich razzleberry. Punches: 1-1/4" circle, 1-3/8" circle, scallop circle. Tools: Big Shot, Matchbox Die, extended cutting pad, premium crease pad.

Deal of the Week #4

Deal of the Week: Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware

Our Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware adds class to any project. Get them for just $18.99 (over 30% off the regular price of $29.95)—only July 20-26!Throughout July, be sure to check my web site every Monday at 10 AM (MT) for the week's new deal.

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

I hope you had a fun weekend! Even though, Jeff had to work, ours was still pretty good. I held my first Stamp-A-Stack (more about that later), we celebrated my youngest's birthday and we had plenty of family around. And some how we wound up with a 6 year old house guest for the week :0)
This card may seem a little juvenile for a 19 year old, but Kyle loves baseball so I couldn't resist making this card for him. I punched out the baseball and popped it up on dimensionals so it looks like it is just about to hit the glove.
Have a great week!

Recipe: Stamp Sets: Have a Ball, A Little Birthday Cheer. Card Stock: kraft, real red, night of navy, whisper white, real red dsp. Ink: night of navy, real red, close to cocoa, creamy caramel. Accessories: dimensional. Tools: paper piercing tool, mat pack, 5/8" circle punch.

Fruit Salad

Doesn't this card kind of remind you of a summer picnic? It actually shows all 4 stamps in the "Tart & Tangy" stamp set.

Have a super weekend!

Recipe: Stamp Set: Tart & Tangy. Card Stock: sahara sand, whisper white, real red, basic black. Ink: old olive stamp pad and old olive, real red & chocolate chip markers. Accessories: red gingham ribbon. Punch: 1-1/4" square.

Citrus Circles

I like certain elements of this card, but I'm not crazy about the overall finished product. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. You can kind of see in the picture that I added glitter to the orange slices. IRL, they remind me of those orange slice candies that are sugar coated. Do you know what I'm talking about? BTW, this stamp can be a lemon, lime, grapefruit - just switch up your stamp pads.
Have a peachy day!

Recipe: Stamp Set: Tart & Tangy. Card Stock: pumpkin pie, bashful blue, old olive, whisper white, summer picnic dsp. Ink: pumpkin pie. Accessories: glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, pumpkin pie striped grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals. Punches: 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" circles and scallop edge.

With a cherry on top ...

Ok, maybe the cherries aren't on top, but they are raised up.
My daugher and grandchildren are coming to swim today. It will be fun, but I hope the neighbors have their windows up so they don't hear Emma's screaming. She is rather dramatic! She loves the pool, but everything has to be on her terms. Erica signed her up for swimming lessons - I hope the instructor has ear plugs :0)

I hope you have a relaxing day.

Recipe: Stamp Set: Tart & Tangy. Card Stock: old olive, bashful blue, real red, whisper white, summer picnic dsp. Ink: old olive & real red markers. Tools: paper piercer, 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" & scallop circle punches. Accessories: 5/8" old olive ribbon grosgrain .

More Summer Fruit

Good Morning.

I found the "Tart & Tangy" sample cards I had made for my mom. Just in time - I think they are perfect for summer. Here are two. Notice how great the fruit stamps fit in the circle and circle scallop punches. Those are ingredients for quick, easy and cute cards. For each of these cards, I popped up the scallop circle - so they do look better IRL. Also, to get more than one color in one stamped image, I colored directly on the rubber stamp with my SU markers.

Have a cheery day!

Welcome to Your New Home

I saw a card like this last summer and thought it was really cute. So I made some even though I didn't need them at the time. Sometimes I can't make a card spur of the moment when needed, so it's nice to have them made up ahead of time. However, there have been times when I've gone to pull out a previously made card and no longer like it. Fortunately, that was not the case this time. I am mailing two of these today; to a friend that just closed on a house and friends that moved this past weekend.

I hope the rest of your day is wonderful!

Strawberry Season

"Tart & Tangy" is a fun stamp set for summer. There are just 4 stamps in the set; strawberry, apple, cherries & citrus slice. I bought this set for my mom for Christmas and made several samples and then bought the accessories for her to duplicate them. My stamp set hadn't seen ink since and summer is half over {sob}. So I've been playing with it here and there the past week and love the sunny cards!
The clean and simple (CAS) look of this card appealed to me. Plus, blue is my favorite color, so it's a winner for me. I hand-cut out the strawberry and popped it up on the tag.

I hope your day is fun!

P.S. I may not be able to post this weekend. I hope yours is great!

Garden Birthday Wishes

Hi there!

Here's another card I CASED using the Garden Greetings Stamp Set I used yesterday. You know I normally make my birthday cards with a party theme, but this greeting came with the stamp set and I still think the card looks cheery. Definitely a girly card, though. This is the first time I layered these punched shapes together and I really like how it turned out. They are "popped up"; it just doesn't show in the photo.

Have a great day!

Garden Greetings

Good Morning!

Yesterday, I got my hair cut, cleaned bathrooms and bedrooms, vacuumed, did all the laundry, ironed, cooked, floated in the pool and took a walk. That left no time (energy) for stamping. So - for a sample, I had to turn to my stash. I pulled out this card made with the Garden Greeting Stamp Set (first seen here). Don't you just love the bold colors?! I do. This set just came out last year and is already on the dormant list. You won't see it in the catalog, but it can still be ordered.

Today I am going to try harder to finish my chores AND have time to play.
I hope your day is great!

Still Branching Out

This is my 2nd consecutive card with this stamp set. I also took it to our last stamp club. Although the intention is to take 1 card to share, sometimes we'll double up; especially if they are this easy. Doesn't this card look so peaceful? I think it's great for thinking of you or sympathy.
I'm so glad summer is back. Enjoy your day!

Branching Out for Stamp Club

Happy Monday Morning!
I hope you had a great holiday weekend.
Remember me telling you about my "stamp club"? My mom, 2 friends and I try to get together once a month to stamp. We each bring a project for everyone to make. We stamped last week and this is a card I shared. It's rare that I don't make a card with ribbon or brads (or both). And I used NO dimensionals - shocker! If you look closely, you can see that I scored 1/2" in from each edge of the card front. It's very simple yet classy. I just loved the cleanness of this card. I hope you like it, too.
The stamp set is called Branch Out. It's not shown in the new 2009-2010 catalog, but it is on the dormant list. Although it is not shown, it is still available to order.
Well, I'm off to run my Monday morning errands. And Friday errands, too - don't ask :0)
Have a wonderful week!

Autumn Time

I guess I will continue with Fall Cards since the temperatures have been so cool. Actually, I 'm still showing cards made with the Best Wishes & More Stamp Set. This is the first card I made with this stamp set and I was very pleased with the results. The flower stamp is the same one used in the blue card from 2 days ago - looks a lot different. I stamped it twice one with more mustard ink and again with chocolate chip. I used a circle punch to cut out the chocolate to layer it and look like a sunflower. So easy! The flower and the leaves are hand-cut and raised up.

Have a great day!

Here I am, the summer person, talking about fall. Yesterday I showed a card with a stamp set called Best Wishes & More that has seasonal images. Today's card uses the same leaf stamp, but instead of a summer flowery card, this looks more fall. So I am in NO hurry for summer to end - just enjoying the versatility of a great stamp set.

I hope your day is great!
